Another Tuesday, another long-winded tattoo story!

If you remember back to last week, when I was talking about my cat nose tattoo, you will recall that rather than getting their actual noses tattooed I wanted some thing that was more minimal and geometric. I do that because I like getting tattoos that people don’t understand. Needless to say, this one was no different.

This tattoo is technically a tattoo of my favourite Pokémon tentacruel. He has been my favourite Pokémon ever since the cartoon show was on TV and he got an episode where he was a giant kaiju monster. It had Big Godzilla and big Power Ranger energy, so I fell in love right away.

In Keeping with the Godlike theme of a giant tentacruel, the shape of the tattoo is based off of the Japanese Ofuda (talisman imbued with the power of gods) and the design inside was made to be geometrical in a way of representing balance.

The Roman numerals (73) beside it seem a little out of place because the Pokémon itself is Japanese, but 73 has been my lucky number since I was 10 years old, and part of me always thought about getting it tattooed somewhere. This next part is going to make me sound a little dumb considering it’s my favourite pokemon, but I just realized that tentacruel is the 73rd Pokemon about 2 years ago. It might not seem like like a big deal but I genuinely could not get over this coincidence. Since I’ve always wanted to get the Roman numeral 73 tattooed on me I decided to get it as close as possible to my boy!It’s a weird blending of cultures, but I love it.
