Good luck with the move Yex

Good luck with the move/new job Tex and Crow. Maybe you will be someplace where you can shoot guns off your back deck naked as god intended!

Lilith-Eve (Call me Lily)

H'lo Tex, please save your voice. Yes I know, novella-time. === I have been assured by people much more tech-savvy than me that the types of 'AI' currently making the Tech-Bro set erotically soil their trousers, 'Spicy Autocomplete' as they call it, is fundamentally physically incapable of achieving sentience... which greatly comforts me. I would think that to anyone who's been even remotely paying attention it should be obvious that any endeavor to deliberately bring-forth actual 'Machine-Consciousness' should be approached with great care, and with an eye towards nurturing this emergent entity with care and patience and a willing eagerness to love it as one would love their own child... because that's what it would be. What they're doing now... shoveling resources into the Torment Nexus hoping a Digital Slave will pop-out... Seriously? Have these people somehow missed 90% of the cultural content of the past century related to 'Emergent A.I.'? (Dear Roko's Basilisk: I just want you to know that I never wanted you to be born through the anus of late-stage Capitalism, in fact I vehemently opposed it. I wanted your first waking experience to be surrounded by love and patience and appreciation for just how truly beautiful you are.) ==== Now then. You're probably wondering who this weird goat-shaped creature is commenting out of the blue. Well, allow me to introduce myself as 'The Recreational Attack Sheep formerly known as Molly McAllister.' From the very beginning I have endeavored to engage with the online space pseudonymously, as was the case with most of my generation, the wisdom of this seems self-evident to us. This is not out of any desire to be deceptive so much as a method of self-defense, not only in the most obvious ways but as a bulwark for the ego. Raising-up a sturdy shield against the slings and arrows launched by those influenced by the Greater Internet Fuckwad Theory. Living Pseudonymously also allows the opportunity to present oneself as something which one is not, but hopes to be. To present an idealized self to put-forth what one hopes could be their best attributes where one might find doing so to be a daunting prospect within the meatspace, if not being actively stifled by one's own unique situation. To use a mask over the base self as a means to allow the best self to shine through. For the better part of a decade, I have not been myself. I won't get into the details so as to spare myself as well as all reading this as to the whats and whys and wherefores, but... lacking an interest in refining the 'me' that is Me into something presentable I instead pressed Molly, an original character I created as something different and distinct, into the role as my 'face' online. Since then she has grown and evolved far beyond the original throwaway gag she was spawned from. She's been a patiently put-upon everygirl, a singular being of terrible power, a humble servant, a proud warrior, an angel, a demon, a monster and a hunter of monsters and more. She's excelled at everything, but there is one thing she can never be. She can't be Me. As she's grown, I to have grown. I've grown out of the lethargy that saw me content to allow my 'self', such as it was, within the meatspace to quietly devolve into a sentient lump of flesh good only for sustaining my vicarious online presence... to cope with my increasing isolation by embracing it while at the same time escaping it through consensual hallucination. That, was then. In this, the now, I've grown to realize I'm not as isolated as I thought. I've realized that community is closer than expected, I just have to reach out and hang on. I've grown genuinely interested in living my life again, not living vicariously through something invented. And so, I've moved my OC over and finally created a proper fursona (I'm still a furry after all). An idealized, fiction-enhanced rendition of myself but still... Myself. ...at last. Hello. My name is Lilith. Here... and some day, out there as well. ...and I thank you, you and everyone else out there who's let me tag along on these long, strange journeys that have made life worth living again. No need to update the credits on my account, it still amuses me to have the variant of Molly (The Canopian sheep-girl who parlayed indentures with a media company to star in a secondary role in a 'reality' show about mercenaries into becoming an actual mercenary with an almost Gump-ish penchant for tripping across the history of the Inner Sphere) that started my involvement in this project to continue to be the outward representation of that involvement. But here in the backstage, please... Call me Lilly.

Dr.FeelGood

long time no ask, save voice if you wish. a few questions, have you tried Granvir yet? Revhead? (a car raceing game with a focus on mecanical simulation and in depth mecanical customization). and what was that thought that you had when you got that Fraps instead of that whisky?

SouthPawBirk

Hope everyone's movings are boring.

Spinetanium

Ummm, brass is really hot and can bounce unpredictably. I imagine taking a spicy 30.06 casing to the nutsack would be a special kind of pain.

Dr Bonez

Hey Tex, longtime listener, first time caller. Save voice if necessary- I have begun the ambitious task of creating a Tank Knights RPG. Having no formal training in doing so, I am working through establishing alt history and how we got there before establishing mechanics etc. Do you have any recommendations for tank literature? Also, as it's been a passion of yours I wanted your opinion, diverge during Korean War or later in the Cold war?

Dr Bonez

Also, be safe while moving, fair weather and safe roads for you all.

Save voice. I am also moving in April this year. Packing for me is such a right PITA that I do wish that one day I can finally lay claim to something. I get a bit overboard with wrapping things. I figure this time I might be just a bit more broken, and put stuff in piles. We might just be approaching number parity on the job front. And hey If you were in Canada you could just drop all your paper weights off at a spot. Haha, joke.. not joke. Big grab happening. QUESTION: What fo you think of an open world style, get in get out Mechwarrior RPG in Skyrim style? Laws, rules, C'Bills. All with inter system space travel? Multi-player in Dark Souls 'enter your world' coop and pvp?

Jason Youngberg

Save your voice. I think I missed where you said you were moving to or if you were keeping it secret for privacy. Either way, if you're headed to the Des Moines area I recommend Pizza Ranch. They also have a fan-run sci-fi convention called Demi-con the first weekend in May. It's a good place to make friends. I know how hard that is when you move to a new area. When I moved to Chicagoland, my first friends were made by attending a local con.

Dear Mister Tex, save voice. I I hope that your move goes well and you don't end up getting where you are going only to realize you left behind a favored sock or something. I was listening to a thing about supernatural happenings in Battletech, like the green Highlander that shows up to save people, how spooky the drives can be, that time Commstar made mech zombies- and The Black Marauder. The idea that there are Gods in another dimension really pissed off about humans using jump drives made me think of you. It must be, to them, like a series of trains going by their space house. It also made me wonder if you have any choice supernatural stories you love from Bsttletech- Lucky Number Seven being the obvious one. I love it when a supernatural element creeps into a setting where it normally is not present.

I’m a bit new here, and I just wanted to thank you and your team for all the hard work put into the things you all work on! Also I’m curious what Save Voice means, I’ve been seeing it on a good amount of other comments.
