Matt got me on a permanent eye-roll after pulling that stunt lol. Bonnie and Damons talk was ROUGH but I LOVED how they showed Damon going to sleep then immediately waking up 3 years later, so cool!

I totally understand why Damon did what he did, but it’ll never sit right with me because I can’t help but compare it to the season 2 finale where Stefan basically did the exact opposite by choosing a life of suffering and giving up a life with Elena for Damon. There’s also the Bonnie factor, a girl who’s lost all her family, lost Elena and now Caroline and Damon didn’t even give her dignity of saying goodbye.

That Bonnie and Damon scene at the end is so heartbreaking, Kat Graham is a phenomenal actress

I can understand why Bonnie is upset, losing her best friend, she was counting of having him around instead of Elena. But Damon does things for love, no matter if he is hated for it. That is Damon. And Bonnie is not Elena, friendship for how much caring and loving it can be is never comparable with the love of your life, the woman you want to have a family with, the woman you would give up our eternal life for the chance to have kids with her. He is living a life that has no joy for him, he put a brave face for everybody, but after a while he came to realise, he is deeply miserable without Elena. So, after everybody hammer him with how much he screws things up, things he has no control over, the last things he wants is to put his loved one in danger because he is around. Taking himself out of the equation, is giving people the chance not to worry about his safety and his life and concentrate on theirs. So, he sorted the Rayna Cruise problem, by giving her to the Armoury, even if the problem is temporary fixed so that Stefan can live his life as he chooses to live, without relying on Damon, having the time to find a solution for the scar. Damon is still acting like a parent, at a certain point you have to let your kids go and fly on their own. Stefan has to learn to live his life without leaning on someone. Before was Damon, them Lexi, then Elena, then Damon again. But….3 year after….

Please don't be a Matt hater. Matt has been killer 3 times, stabbed god knows how many times, hand broken, broken arm, his sister was killed. But he always was supportive to his friends , even though his life was destroyed. Mystic Falls is his town, his home, his life, the place he was born, where his job is. He is not rich, he can't just live and have a house and a job, like he has in Mystic Falls. And why should HE leave? From Matt point of view, he tried very hard to get along with the vampires, but they create so much havoc in his life, in any case, that made it impossible for him to coexist with them without suffering terrible consequences. So he had enough. Can you blame him? I can't. Everybody has a moment of touching rock bottom, Elena is in a coffin, Caroline left, Tyler and Jeremy left too, so there is nobody to care for in Mystic Falls but the town itself, it is his duty and his job. Stefan as well, used to come and go to keep a low profile, and even though this time around is different for him because Mystic Falls felt home again as it was long time ago, he has to decide what to do with the scar, and with Caroline and both of those things can be sorted by staying in Mystic Falls.

I agree 100000% with your comments on Matt. Trying to kick Stefan out is crazy to me...I get nostalgia and all that, but it's never worth staying in that town and trying to "rid" the town of vampires. It's not worth possibly dying over IMO :)

Comment Written by Newmoon: "We have to remember Damon was going through huge emotional and psychological situations much more than any other characters in this season He lost the love of his life. Yes, she's still alive, but her being in a coma was kind of like death; he couldn't physically be with her. And also, having his mother back in his life brought back all the psychological issues that were affecting him at his core back to the surface; his childhood abuse and also knowing the whole truth about his mom made those childhood memories even more painful when he realized his mom was just as abusive as his dad and all those pain could've been avoided if she had cared enough to come back for them and rescued them but she never did. Then his soul was sent into the hellstone, whose purpose was to torture vampires by creating a custom-made psychological hell made by their own subconscious that made him face all those unresolved psychological issues, especially those related to his childhood. Given all of that, Damon was still trying to pull himself together and be there for his loved ones as much as possible, but instead, all he got in return was blame and mistreatment. When you grew up as a scapegoat and has constantly been told worthless and disappointment as a child by your parents, part of you start believing you are all the things you've been told, and there's another part of you which is yourself-love" that wants to rebel against it but constantly been verbally abused would push that part down to the deepest part of your psyche and keep it buried. The self love is still alive, it's just buried underneath layers and layers of mistreatment and abuse and the false self those traumatic childhood experiences created for you. This will result in a constant inner struggle in your head, fighting a battle between yourself and the poisonous voices inside your head created by your traumas. So if Damon was put in a same situation where he got blamed again unjustly and unfairly, that would bring back all those painful memories to the surface and give power to the false self he's been fighting constantly in his head and makes him believe it once again, on the other hand getting love and compassion would feed his self love that's been buried deep down and this would help bring it back to the surface, giving him a sense of worth again. When he can see that he's needed and appreciated and accepted, he can start see himself worthy of love and affection. Elena's love was helping him the most in that regard, being completely accepted by her despite of all of his mistakes and flaws, being unconditionally loved by her was really helping him build his self love, but now with her being gone again and every ones else start blaming him like everything is his fault, it was like his childhood was happening all over again. This was a very crucial time for Damon that he's trying to find and discover himself that who he was without Elena and he wanted to believe he's still capable of being good even without having Elena around but everyone else behaving this way towards him in this season were making it really hard for him and it's making him go back to believing his false self to the point that he completely reached to the conclusion that without Elena he only brings destruction to his loved ones which is not true at all but no one else is helping him believe anything other than that. Valery: "and who's fault is that? The best way to help Stefan is to keep your mouth shut and stop making things worse" Stefan:" just sit down and do nothing before you find a way to make this a bigger problem than it already is" Tyler:"there's no way you can survive another 60 years without royally screwing up" Everyone kept blaming him for everything that was going wrong and even for other people's mistakes, so eventually he started to believe what everyone else were telling him that his presence only bring destruction for people around him so the only way for him to protect them is to take himself out of their lives. What Damon did was incredibly selfless from his side because in his mind he was trying to prevent himself from hurting everyone else. It's not like he's going on vacation or something, he's literally putting himself through excruciating pain so he wouldn't hurt his loved ones but what's tragic is that he reached to that conclusion that this is the only way to protect his loved ones. What Damon did is a clear sign of depression, he literally wanted to put a pause on his existence and no one tried to understand him and try to find out what drove him to the point he's making this decision, they took his action as a selfish act and kept blaming him even more, pushing him even more to put himself down so he could prevent himself from hurting his loved ones any further."

Even the first time I watched TVD, I never hated Matt. After watching the show a couple of times, I realize that Matt holds the answer to two of the most heated disputes among the fans. Out of the Mystic Falls gang, He was the first to notice something strange with Stefan in the pilot episode and the first to hear about vampires from Vicki. In season 1, episode 5, Matt foreshadows two things: One of them was when he was playing pool with Elena at the Mystic Grill. She was telling Matt that she didn’t know anything about Stefan. Meanwhile, Matt sensed her worries and tried to ease Elena's thoughts by joking around, saying that Stefan kept a clown suit in His trunk and was a serial killer as if to convey to Elena that statement couldn't possibly be true, so why imagine the worst? Then he told her that Stefan was a nice guy. Of course, Elena and Matt didn't know who Stefan was back then. The conversation between Matt and Elena might seem low profile, but both comments mentioned by Matt about Stefan became true. The second foreshadowing is when Matt says that Elena is big on trust and will not stop until she finds the truth. Stefan should have listened to what Matt told him because the secrets Stefan kept from Elena about being a pacifist vampire were broken in season 3, episode 5 when Elena saw Stefan killing those students at the gym. Although it was Klaus who compelled Stefan to kill those students, it was the manner that he did it that made Elena notice that Stefan had a monstrous side of him. We can see Elena’s facial expressions crumble when she sees Stefan killing those students. Stefan hiding that side of himself from Elena was one of the reasons their relationship ended. In season three, I love how Matt listens to Elena when she is talking about the Salvatore brothers. He listens attentively to her without judgment. In season five, I love how gently he picked up Nadia’s body with compassion to bury her. Even after the way she treated him. There is so much more that I can write about Matt, but one thing is for sure: it is a mistake to disregard this character because he gives essential clues to the story. Now, why is Matt so mad at Stefan? Well, we have to wait and see, but how that information is revealed is important to pay attention to that scene.

Reina: “Put the lotion in the basket.” That line came from Buffalo Bill. He said that to the senator's daughter in The Silence of The Lambs movie. The song “Goodbye, Horses “ by Q Lazzarus & Garvey is playing during this scene. I have this song for my Halloween playlist.

Yes, Damon pissed people off, but when they love him, they love him deeply. I could hear Bonnie’s pain with Damon’s decision. I can see Damon deflating, seeing Bonnie in pain. Beautiful scene.
