U know me, I love a flashback episode so this was AMAZING. My biggest takeaway will always be that I DO NOT TRUST PETER HALE, that man makes me shiver!

This is also one of my favourite episodes of the whole show. The concept of the unreliable narrators and getting the backstory on Derek and Deucalion was so cool. Also always nice to be reminded just how evil and unhinged Gerard is 💀

You know I don’t think Derek was ever considering turning Paige until Peter said what he said. Peter was just lying to Cora and Stiles to absolve himself by making it sound like Derek already had the idea.

I've always loved the concept unreliable narrators so to see it put into TV form was just beautiful! And jesus christ, can Gerard just like seek help or something 😭 what is wrong with that man

Yeah definitely don't trust Peter Hale. You gotta admit though, he's a great villain, very witty, wears the heck out of those v necks. He's one that I love to hate. Next episode is where things start to really amp up imo.

I would take it even further and say that the show only ever 'implies' that Derek asked Ennis, we're never told that explicitly by anyone other than Peter and they don't show him speaking to Ennis at all. So do we know for sure that he did? Or was Paige at the school on her way to meet Derek who was innocently waiting for her, and Peter was the one who got Ennis involved. What we're shown is Derek hears the screams, and runs to try and save her.

Peter urged Derek to have Paige turned so that Derek would be indebted to him. There was an old Twitter thing by one of the writers where he alluded to Peter doing this in hopes that he could rally support to eventually challenge Talia and become Alpha. He’s the one that set up Ennis giving her the Bite, though he told Derek. He didn’t anticipate the Bite not taking.

This was a FANTASTIC episode. I'm not usually a fan of episodes that do flashbacks for exposition, but this was done very well. I liked Scott threatening Gerard A LOT lol.

Imagine being 15 years old and trying to stay with your first love forever, only to end up killing her (because you were manipulated by your uncle). Then, when you are 16 and vulnerable (because of your dead girlfriend), you fall in love with a groomer (Kate) who ends up using you to kill your entire family. I know Derek gets a lot of flack for being around teenagers and being a bad Alpha or whatever. But how are you supposed to turn alright and make the best decisions with a past like that. I feel bad for him.

I LOVE THIS EPISODE WITH ALL MY HEART!!! hii i’m new here, used to watch on yt but when i realised you were already on s3 here i just had to watch it in full length, uncut!!! Peter is a shady ass but i love the man, he’s just too fun (and hot) and always keeps you entertained hahahahahaha i just have to say something that i don’t think people talk a lot. you mentioned Kate and thought that she was in school with Derek, but she was (i think) a lot older than him. in my eyes she was a total predator, i don’t think they even mention that in the show, at least i don’t remember them mentioning it at any point.
