Elijah’s reaction to regaining his memories breaks my heart. Even without the image of Hayley dying like that, to be hit all at once with 1000 years of trauma is an absolute monster of a feeling.

I loved when Marcel said with immortality “We get to see barriers fall and the oppressed rise”. He was born a slave and lived long enough to see the civil war/abolition, desegregation, civil rights etc. It makes so much sense that he’d view endless life in a positive way because of that.

Just to clarify - the point of the mindscape (I can't spell it, haha) is to trap someone. Hope wasn't necessarily trying to make them discover things about themselves. She just wanted them to be kept occupied while she did her thing. But the way the mindscape works is there HAS to be an escape key, and it's based on how the caster views the people being trapped. (Noble stag for Elijah, for example, when it was Finn doing the casting, chess pieces for Elijah and Klaus when it was Tristen and Aurora's doing), so, in this case, the escape keys were hidden in places Hope associated with each of them (the books Kol gave her, the necklace Rebekah gave her, the letters Klaus didn't answer, etc.)

I think the concept of the locks is truly why I was doubling down so hard as I was CONVINCED they had to do smthn to get them 😂 thanks for the clarification tho as that makes so much sense when put like that

Absolutely, mad I forgot to comment on that part but it was so key. Their beginnings being so different makes so much sense as to why they view the life they got as a result so differently
