One of the best series openers I have ever seen, has been a while since a show has had me gripped from start to finish. I have so many questions that I just can not WAIT to get the answers to!

Google Drive Tip: It takes time for Google Drive to process videos. If it says "still processing" or is only allowing you to view at 360p, then you can always come back later or download the video in full

Dropbox Tip: The quality of the video is lower while streaming so I recommend downloading or using google drive if thats an issue

The links work, for me at least, super happy you're finally reacting to this amazing show, honesty did not think it would win a poll so soon but really happy it did :]

Love this show, and the book and the movie. After you finish the series you should check out the movie!!

In answer to something you said during question time, Lestat's and Louis's romantic obsession with each other was very much a part of the books. They just didn't have sex (vampires couldn't in the books - blood drinking was the substitute for it.) Also, we sometimes hear Louis refer to Daniel as "boy" in this. In the IWTV book, Louis never mentions the journalist's name. He only refers to him as "the boy." (We do find it out later.) In fact, he doesn't even mention his own name for a long time - and only after he's mentioned Lestat's dozens of times. Here, they did a flip on this where Louis specifically *doesn't* mention Lestat's name until handing Daniel the business card.

I don't think you missed anything at the beginning, and if there was something it will be brought back up later. And yes, they are talking about Covid as this was being filmed right at the height of it. Louis and Lestat's relationship not being sexual is very much a product of the time the books were published. As Elizabeth mentioned, vampires did not have the ability to have sex in the books. I'm pretty sure this was done solely so that she could have gay vampires without having them have sex. Seasons 1 and 2 are of the first book. There will be a season 3 and there is a trailer for it, and it will be around the next book in the series

Just a tiny correction - vampire eyes are very intense, but they're not all the same color. Lestat's are blue-grey, and Louis's are green.

omg im so fucking excited to watch this later. genuinely one of the best shows running rn and one of my favs ever! also like one of the best pilots i can think of lol

Set design plays a huge role in the subtext of this show, so, for example, the transformation happening in a church -- after an exchange of vows -- is definitely supposed to be, symbolically, a wedding. Which takes on even more meaning when you think about how queer couples definitely wouldn't be allowed to be married in a church and that Lestat had to go -- literally -- through the priests to facilitate it.

IWTV is one the few shows I consider to have a perfect pilot. Just like Louis asks Daniel to let the story seduce him, I feel like the episode just pulls you in so much you don’t even realise it’s ended.

Louis’s confession scene was what got me to check out the show, I was blown away by Jacob Anderson’s performance! The acting in this show is spectacular, this was just a taste of it. Also in case you didn’t recognise him, Louis is played by the same actor who played Grey Worm in GoT (the director of this episode Alan Taylor also directed some huge episodes of GoT)

People either really love or hate the books, but Anne Rice’s take on vampirism is pretty much the blueprint for modern day vampires in media.

Kitty Underwood

Yep. and fun fact, in Season 1 of TVD when Damon is "hanging out" with Caroline, he's reading Twilight and talks smack about Edward, then says "Oh I miss Anne Rice. She was so on it." Because her books are more "accurate" to how vampires actually are in TVD lol

I am in awe of this show and how seductive it is. Not to mention the stellar performances, Louis is chills-worthy in the pilot already! But the thing that makes me rank it as one of my favorite-ever kind of show is how IWTV can spin the narrative on its head over and over again. The layers of depth and brilliance of the themes are endless: the signature seductiveness quickly becomes toxicity only to become care and intimacy and then turn into dignified self- affirmation, then back to manipulation and the carousel keeps spinning and the writing never skips a beat. Yeah. Just in awe

Hali

wait I never noticed that holy shit 🤣🤣🤣

louis was a plantation owner in the books and the movie (so happy they made the changes they did for the show bc who the fuck wants that) and also just extremely boring lmao, we dont claim that louis. jacob anderson saved him as a character, truly
