We've mentioned Abby/Eddie parallels before. They both lose a loved one in the penultimate episode of their first season, but how do you think their reactions to it will be different?

Question from a friend - "i always find the beach scene with eddie and shannon so interesting. it’s probably the scene that best shows eddie’s pov regarding shannon now. he calls her christopher’s mother and is almost frustrated by her attempt to talk about who she is to him. it seems like he’s not really sure how he feels about her outside of chris. then later at the dinner he brings up that bizarre metaphor using a vat of chocolate dragging you down. somehow that leads to him saying he wants to try again and her asking for a divorce. she dies by the end of the episode so we don’t really get to see either happen. how do you think eddie really feels? do you think it would have one day worked itself out or would they have been better off as co-parents?"

I'll add to the above - While Eddie obviously has love and care for Shannon, do you think he was actually *in* love with her -- or was he more in love with the concept of a united family/keeping someone important to him in his life?
