I fully agree with you on the whole "redeeming parents" thing. 9-1-1 has a bit of a miserable track record with just. moving on from parental trauma for no clear reason. It sucks.

yeahh, i have to assume someone in the writers room is living vicariously through the characters by having them mend their relationships with their toxic parents. it would be more satisfying and better writing to see at least one character (if any of characters, i'd like it to be buck and maddie, eddie or chimney) cut off their parents and not forgive them for their shitty treatment.

i think my main criticism of the wendell stuff is that i wish we were introduced to him sooner. it would hit so much harder if we actually got to know and got attached to wendell before he died - even if they intfoduced him as an established character in bobby's life at the beginning of season 6 we would have potentially spent a bit of time w him - especially as red flag was the fall/mid-season finale cliffhanger, so that's the ep the show paused on for four months. to randomly introduce a character who has apparently been around for years and knows bobby's family well and kill him off in the same episode has always rubbed me the wrong way.
