A lot of questions and revelations. Seeing Stefan's struggle is interesting because one didn't know earlier how serious things could be when he would drink human blood and now we can see that it is a really strong urge. He really struggles to control himself around blood. And that is a big issue. Sure, he wants to live as human as close to reality as possible but that is a huge risk to take. He is not only going to put himself in unwanted situations but people around him too. Damon was actually giving him pretty sane advice. It is understandable that he does not want to cause any kind of harm to human beings which is great but then why not use blood bags? Lexi was also shown to be a good vampire and she still chose to drink from blood bags to sustain. So why is it that Stefan doesn't want to drink human blood at any cost? And I have to say Kudos to Paul Wesley because it was so fun to watch this different side of Stefan and as the audience we got to pick up on the changes in his attitude quite easily. Jeremy, poor guy must be very upset. He was already suspicious so I guess it was inevitable that he would have found out the truth eventually but the fact that he found out that Elena knew everything and she hid it from him by going to such extreme lengths would be very tough to even try and see it from her pov. John knows a lot of things!! He does know about Isobel being a vampire because he mentions in the episode that he was the one who sent Isobel to Damon when she wanted to turn into a vampire. So they definitely have been in touch even after Isobel moved away from the gilberts. Family history has been given quite a major significance. The founding families seem to have things in common and the secret council is one of them.

Stefan and Elena from the beginning live in world of fantasy. She sees Stefan more of as a human being than a vampire and that is because of him playing this role of being a human. So when he is trying to maintain the distance so he won't harm her, she is not even slightly worried about her safety at this given point. Because she really doesn't understand how horrible the situation could get as she hasn't seen him lose control to the point of not coming back. However she still did reach out to Damon to talk about Stefan. This was an interesting move because she doesn't confide in Stefan about her fear of him losing control with her. But she decides to talk about it with Damon. From this what I understood was that Elena did get worried but she chose to not talk about it with Stefan. Damon and Elena and their friendship is finally moving out of its infancy and into a very real kinship of trust, loyalty and reliance. Its in everything. Their conversations. Their mannerisms. Their flirtations. To this day this scene is still one of my favorites. Its too hilarious and adorable and just encompasses everything that I love about Damon and Elena’s dynamic. And it speaks volumes about how far they have come in just a few episodes. Their comfort level has reached a sweet spot where they can team up to deal with the supernatural crisis of the day, Damon can make a few wise cracks, Elena can pretend to be offended and annoyed, but it isn’t too intense. Despite the subject matter, their interactions are light and captivating. Because only Damon Salvatore and Elena Gilbert can have a serious conversation about Stefan’s waning control of his bloodlust and still transition flawlessly between their usual witty repartee and the necessary solemn concern most people would expect in this situation. I mean look at how comfortable he makes himself on her bed while holding her teddy bear. And Elena is really starting to trust Damon. She invites him to her home, her room, so she could ask for his unbiased opinion on Stefan's issue with control. And during this whole conversation, Damon is being so nosy. He is behaving like a kid in a candy store and playing around with her draws and photos. I just have to laugh at his silly attempts to get her under her skin. Regardless of how annoyed she may pretend to be when he pushes her buttons, I believe it is something she can like about their dynamic. He makes things light and fun even if everything else is seeming to fall apart. Moving along to the founders party, When Damon tells Liz that he likes his life in mystic falls and it feels like home again, I thought it was one of the utmost important line. Because we see him starting to build relationships and set roots. At the beginning of the season he was here only for Katherine and after that the plan was to leave. Yet he is here all this time later and he has developed his budding friendship with Liz and slowly even with Alaric. He has unintentionally taken up the responsibility of looking after his younger brother for the first time in decades. And his friendly bond with Elena is rapidly becoming something more, unbeknownst to either of them. It seems after all this time of being alone, Damon has finally come back home and he also feels that is home. I also loved how we saw Damon and Elena at the party talking about their younger siblings. The first reaffirmation of Damon and Elena's bond as oldest siblings. That responsibility they both feel as an older brother and sister adds to the overwhelming truth of the silent understanding they share. And the second is perhaps one of my all time favorite underrated Delena moments. Damon giving Elena a rose. For absolutely no reason whatsoever. They are just standing there, again having some serious conversation about some impending crisis, and Damon ends the conversation by handing her a single rose before walking away. To this day my head still spins at the beauty and simplicity of the gesture. A relationship being built on the foundation of small moments like this. He gave her a rose and said absolutely nothing. No pretty words. No salacious smirk. He just offered to her and she accepted it.

The level of acting in this show is very high and Paul Wesley is truly a great asset for the show. But the level of acting by the entire cast is truly outstaning, everybody have it's moment to shine, now is Paul time. Stefan has some major psycologial issues, he is not accepting his condition of being a vampire, but the nature of who he is, it is not something he can keep dening. Vampires are predators by nature, the craving of human blood is a primary instinct, they can smell blood from far, they can hear the sound of blood pumping into the vains. It takes lot of controll and practice and time to act normal around humans, until eventually the urge to feed on human can be controllable. It's like when you live in a very noisy place, eventually you get used to it and it became something you don't notice anymore. . What Damon was telling him, is that suppressing his nature and pretening that the urge is not there, it is not a good way to deal with the reality of who he is. John Gilbert opens a lots of questions about matters that have been put on the table in the past episodes, Isobel, the rings and where they come from, how he knows so much? Also what he knows hasn't been told to the other council's members, John was telling them specifically to Damon and Alaric, so why he wants them to know that he knows? Alaric and Damon is an unlikly pair, but if you think about it they have lots in common, as Damon said: "we are kindred spirit abandoned by the women we love". Alaric braveness has conquered Damon's respect, and Alaric by seen how he fought for his brother, somehow made him aware the Damon is not as bad as he pretends to be, and he is a powerfull allied. Tyler has some serious anger issues and Matt's mom is not mother material, I cannot blame Matt for wanting her out of his life, She is not contributing in any way in bringing anything positive in his life. He is stil grieving Vicky's death and she is only adding further aggravation and embarassment. Next episode is so iconic and we are heading towards the finale. I can't wait.

I love the bedroom scene between Damon and Elena. There is nothing more personal then your bedroom. You don't invite to enter that sacred space just anybody, only people you are very close to. That is the measure of how much their realtionship has progressed. I adore the cheekyness of Damon, how he mess around with Elena's personal stuff, while talking about very serious matters and Elena chasing him around without being particularly affected by him poking his nose around. I find that scene so hilarious and so utterly brilliant. I don't know how much was the writers brilliance, or the actor contribution in creating this little moments that makes a character endearing and more realistic, with his sassy flirty behaviour with Elena and she being so confortable around him and so unfazes at him giving her a rose, like it is something natural, normal, aspected. Damon and Elena relationship is so interesting, from so many point of view.

Their dynamic has always been interesting because there is so much happening and the shifts in the dynamic is always so evident. Like you said I am not sure how much of it credible to the writers and actors but it's worth the praise.
