I never comment on any Patreon videos I watch, but I just have to say I love your commentary. I feel like you say so much in one episode, and you really analyze each character. I also love how you keep an open mind for everyone. You understand why they are the way that they are, even if you dislike it haha! I get excited each week to see what you have to say. This season just gets crazier and crazier, and I can't wait to see what you have to say!

Katherine is a master planner!! She is always prepared for everything that can wrong and she has things planned and in place and this episode was just another example of those things. It's frustrating but at the end of the day she is fun to watch. I am just super glad Jenna is going to be fine because otherwise I wouldn't be okay. Damon killing Mason had to be done. I did feel bad because I did like Mason if only he wasn't influenced by Katherine. But Damon isn't going to take chances and he is right to not do so because of Katherine and because he knows that Mason can be vengeful too. Jeremy teaming up with Damon was a good move. It's true that he is interested in all these things so he is trying to find something purposeful to do. However I don't think that Jeremy is influenced by Damon. He was upset with Katherine because she has tried to harm a loved one and Jeremy has lost too many people in a short amount of time that he is going to be in a space where he won't allow anyone else to come close to his loved ones. It's a natural human instinct. And these teenagers are growing up and this is their development. I did feel bad for Stefan and Elena breaking up. It's too risky for them to continue to be together because they believe that Katherine is trying to harm Elena's people due to them to being together. But I see that these two are going through these rough situations and this is one of those moments where they chose to no longer fight for themselves as a couple. I am not saying that them breaking up in this situation wasn't valid because it is but this is what it is when a human and a vampire are in a relationship (it won't be anything easy). Coming to Liz and Caroline, I loved them in this episode! It was heart warming to see them bond and talk through things. I did believe that Liz was going to protect her daughter but looking at the big picture...it would be too soon to believe that it's okay for Liz to know about the group of vampires. She is in the police force and a member of the secret council so keeping her out of it is probably for the best for now.

I love your reactions and I cannot wait for the next two episodes coming, so iconic. It is important to see how adorable Caroline is handling her newbie vampire phase because it gives us a window over what everybody else we know went probably through as newbie vampires. So, if she that is a control freak, an over achiever, is straggling to fight the mighty powerful killer instincts specific to the vampire nature, pushing anybody in that situation to give into, we can imagine how it was for the other vampires we know. And Caroline has Stefan to guide her, as it was for Vicky but Vicky was doomed from the very beginning because personality and character traits counts a lot. Stefan, Damon and Isobel we know had nobody to help them to figure out things, Katherine we don’t know much about her yet. So, they have this dominant urge to feed and kill that by giving into on the moment makes them feel good, but a minute after when humanity kicks in and they take control of themselves again, a rush of conscience, guilt, remorse, make them feeling powerless, not in control of their life anymore and their heighten emotions makes things way more harsher, they know they have a defence mechanism which is to switch it off not to feel at their disposal if they want to, or cannot cope. Stefan, having a sympathetic personality as human, wants to hold on to every shred of humanity he has, even at the great costs of having a constant internal battle with his vampire side, trying to repress it as much as he can keeping hold to his human life with everything he has. Isobel did the opposite, being selfish and having an inquisitive personality, gave in to her vampire side completely, exploring it and taking full advantage to the switch to be all she can be as a vampire, free from guilt and remorse. But be care free specially if you are new, put you also in a position of weakness and danger, the fact that you don’t care about anything means that you don’t care about what happens to you too. In fact Isobel is manipulated by Katherine to do what she wants. And then we have Damon. We know that Damon thinks that switching off your humanity is an easy way out, and doing it just because you can’t handle your vampire instinct is not a badass thing to do, it’s cowardly. Damon is the opposite to Stefan, he painfully realised the situation he was forced into by his own family (his father killed him and his brother force him to turn), and had no other choice but to adjust and make the most of it, burying the pain and his feelings of unjust and loneliness he was force to endured, He copes with it by hiding the pain behind this facade of make believe toughness, he would rather die than letting people see he is very emotionally fragile and exposed to the effect of overpowering hurt, he rather let everybody hate him. Because of that he has nothing to lose, he was cursed with a bad guy reputation anyway, so he does the tough things that everybody should do but are afraid to do, he gets things done, like the killing of Mason. He did to Mason what he felt about himself, he had his heart brutally ripped out of his chest, that is the extent of what he feels. If you look again at the speech he gave to Jeremy before snapping his neck, he was talking to himself, he was expressing rage from his vampire instinct telling him what to do to avoid the deep pain he is feeling and pushing back as hard at people that reject him. That doesn’t justify his action but give us a different POV since he is not human, he is a vampire, someone unloved since he was human and the feeling of not deserving others love for that long must be devastating. So with everything we know now, still the big question is, what happen to Damon before his appearance in Mystic Falls? He, himself, told to Jeremy with a emotionally breaking voice that he switched his humanity off for a very long time. What happen to him that was so unbearable that he had to switch it off? We don’t know but knowing Damon so far, it must have been something truly severe to make him take that road. That is why I felt at this point I should give him some slack. Every vampire has killed, the older they are the greater the number of body they left behind. They live in a very precarious, dangerous world where if they aren’t careful, can easily be used, manipulated, and killed. They became a survivor after a while, with survivor instincts and Damon as human, faced war, so he has a much tougher survivor skills then Stefan, that is a miracle he survived all this time with all the scruples he seems to have, since in the little time we got to know him, got almost killed twice and if it wasn’t for Damon he would have been dead by Logan, or by the tomb vampires. So it’s a matter of kill or be killed and Damon is the only person among our circle that would do what is necessary to do, no matter how brutal it is to keep himself and the people he cares safe. They all have a past, they all killed, sweet Caroline has been a vampire for 5 minute and already has killed one person and almost killed Matt. I wouldn’t single Damon out as a monster, because, apparently he killed, as far as we have seen, more people than others and doesn’t hesitate when he is faced with danger threats. We don’t have the full extent the dangerous world they live in yet, we don’t know many other old vampires, we don’t know of the one we got to know their past. So let’s keep our mind open to the fact that in this show nothing is as it seems.

Awww that is so sweet of you to say! Trying to understand and not immediately judge characters makes for a MUCH more enjoyable experience for me, would be boring if you just love or hate people heh

Harry Allen

I definately agree that they all have messed up and all killed people, my mindset was more so about what I have seen in regards to killing, like Damon killing all Vickys drug friends, whereas Caroline couldn't control herself being so new to it all. Not saying one is worse than the other, just in the moment I was more thinking that Liz knows about those deaths and finding out Damon did it all may have sent her over the edge and revealed it all. If any of that makes sense lol. Also I really do appreciate how thorough your comments always are! Sometimes I don't have enough time to reply to them all but I always read through them so I appreciate it

Patpet

Remember that when Damon killed Vicky friends was because he has been starved by his brother, so was in a survival mode, he couldn't control himself much worse than Caroline couldn't, plus he had his humanity on a dimmer switch meaning he only cared about the task his mind was set to, which was getting Katherine out of the tomb, he wasn't feeling much more than that. Caroline killed the two deputies too. So all of them when they have to survive kill because they have to or they are dead. None of the vampire of our circle have killed intentionally maliciously somebody for no reason at all or without good motivations, even the killing of Lexi has good motivations, part of it you know already but most of it is in the history that you have yet to discover. 💗

Just perfect ! Love how you explained all these important details without giving away any spoilers👏

Thank you, I love his reactions so I try to give him some thoughts provoking subject to ponder about without spoiling the fan of discovering things by himself, and also gently stearing him back on a correct path if I notice he is taking a direction that would spoil his clear judgement that is so important to help him to be a very successful reactor.
