This episode is so huge, such an important mile stone. The world as our little group of friends knew it’s expanding to a whole other level that not even Damon and Stefan knew, being fairly new vampires compared to Katherine and the others we’ve just met. We had been given so many important information. We know now that Katherine original name is Katherina Petrova and that she is at list 500 years old, also that she is, apparently, the original doppelgänger, which, as you guessed, is herself someone else copy. She knew the Originals, Elijah and she was the cause of Rose and Trevor running for centuries. We learned that the Originals are the most ancient Vampire family and one of them is called Klaus and apparently they cannot be killed as normal vampires can. Also Stefan’s dark past, as someone that torn people apart for fun, was mentioned for the first time. Then we learn that Bonnie is learning more and more magic, but witches have limitations to their powers, which make sense because otherwise their power would be limitless. Caroline and Tyler are bonding over a mutual common situation, they are both supernatural creatures and both have their mothers in the council. And then there are the two final incredible scenes. Damon “killed” Elijah, and once again if it wasn’t for Damon, Stefan would have been dead and Elena would have been taken away. It was sad to see Damon thinking Elena would run down the stairs into his arm to thank him but instead she runs into Stefan’s arms, but at list she thanked him without letting Stefan knowing. As consequence of what happened, later Stefan apologise to his brother for forcing him to turn. It took him 150 years to apologise to his brother. Why now? Because he realised that without Damon he cannot possibly alone protect himself and Elena, he needs Damon. So it doesn't sound to me a sincere apology, done with the sole purpose of truly apologize, but more like buttering up his brother, in true Stefan fashion, the master manipulator. It will take a long time for the two brothers to be totally and completely trusting of one another especially for Stefan, selfless to everybody but his brother. This part is wrote very realistically as well, because when your father condition you to think your brother is trash and you are gold, that’s how you grow up. Stefan is very self righteous and Damon has zero self-belief and resigned to his bad reputation. Anyway, Damon took Stefan’s apology as gesture of affection. He is like a stray dog that if approached may show his teeth for fear of been batter, once again, barking at you or even bite you, but give him a bone with no meet and out of hunger for any gesture of care and affection, he would gladly lick your hand, wag his tail and repay you with unconditioned affection and Stefan knows that very well. That scene is so incredibly well played by both of them. Stefan looks straight at him, while Damon can't, turns his face away because the bone Stefan is throwing at him is overwhelming him too deeply. And then Damon goes and does what he does because he wanted to repay his little brother for finally acknowledging that what he did was selfish and very harmful to him. So HE searched for her necklace, goes to Elena’s room, tells her he loves her, he doesn't deserve her, but his brother does.....(while the song is playing " I was wrooooong...I was wrooooong" ...well...), then kisses on her forehead and makes her forget, not to burden her with what he just reviled, while crying tears of desperation. Damon doesn't want anybody to know how fragile he is, he wanted to get it out of his chest, he is convince he is unworthy of love and after closing the character with Katherine, he is trying to move on here too. This scene is so poetic and heart breaking. A bad reputation does a number on you as living a life unloved, and Damon acts accordingly, as people aspect of him, but then he does these magnificent acts of total selflessness. So who is Damon really? There is a beautiful song by the Who that fits Damon like a glove. I love this version. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8IEQpfA528M I don't know if is a total fortuity or if the writers knowing the song got inspired while writing about Damon character, still...describes Damon so poignantly. It is so shocking to me, how the characters on this show, especially Damon character are as deep as an ocean.

A great reaction as always, I can’t wait for you to react to the rest of the season, season 2 is one of my favourites^^

I had been waiting for this one! The ending scene is all heart 😭❤ but I am going to start from the beginning. Elena being kidnapped and meeting Rose and Trevor was a good way of finding about the originals and how feared they're. I mean it's not surprising because someone like Katherine is running away from them so it definitely does paint quite the picture. But the fact that the Petrova Doppelganger is the key to breaking the curse is something else. I just cannot imagine the emotions Elena must be feeling when she had Elijah standing so close to her. Then again she is Elena Gilbert and kudos to her courage because she was smart to think on her feet and tried to negotiate a deal with Elijah which also ended up buying her time until Damon and Stefan could start with their rescue mission. Elijah is scary but the aura he carries is something I absolutely love. He is known to be a man of his words as Rose mentioned but then one has to be smart about his wordings when he makes a promise and it was really nice to see you easily catching that. Bonnie is pushing hard outside her magic boundaries and I am really really happy that she is challenging herself and exploring more of her strengths but moments like when she is weak and passed out, does make me concerned. I personally did like the brothers chatting in the car about addressing the elephant in the room. Damon knows that Stefan and other people around him know the impact Elena has on Damon but until now he hasn't voiced it. And he still didn't want to in the car. Stefan on the other hand was trying to dig although he knows the answer. But I liked how civil it was and appreciated that they could have a conversation. Also we got to hear about a little about Stefan's past which is quite shocking (ripping people apart for fun?) Now speaking about the three most well executed and emoted scenes in the episode. Firstly the staircase scene. The look in Damon's eyes when Elena starts running down those stairs was too damn beautiful and filled with angst. And the minute she runs into Stefan's embrace...the expression changed and there was a realization. He understood that he had romantic feelings for her and he would have to love her from far and for him that was worth it. This is Damon we're talking about and he loves hard! Kudos to the creatives for making this into a significant moment for Delena although Elena was hugging Stefan. Her focus was on Damon and that silent conversation between them was everything one needs to witness to understand the relationship between Damon and Elena. Moving on to the apology scene. I liked that Stefan apologised for forcefully turning Damon into a vampire and that he acknowledged it was a selfish move on his part and it was because he knew he needed his elder brother. It was nothing but the truth. And Damon needed to hear it because he appreciated it. No it doesn't change the past but Stefan accepting that he was wrong was good enough for Damon to also somewhere forgive him. I know that Stefan spoke about it because he witnessed how important it is for Damon to be around if he has to fight these unknown enemies to protect a human and that again goes back to his reasoning of forcefully turning his brother into a vampire to begin with. The writers always know how to connect the dots. And the impact of that apology was clearly visible in the last scene of the episode. He found the time to look for the vervain necklace before leaving the abandoned house. The necklace was gifted to Elena by Stefan to keep Damon out of her mind but the one who brings it back for her is Damon. So when he got the necklace back for her he decided to return it, because it was a symbol. He could’ve kept it, and therefore kept pining after her, regardless of the way she felt or acted. He would love her and win her but instead he gave it back to her, essentially returning her to Stefan. The symbolism is so strong it hurts. Also, Elena immediately knew what he was going to say and I think that’s so important, because she knew how he felt but if he admitted it to her then she would have to shut him down, because she is in love with Stefan and he hadn’t done anything to betray her in her opinion, and she was a good girl so she had to ignore these brewing feelings for Damon and if he said it would become too real. Throughout this entire conversation we see him looking at her, really seeing her. and she is trying so hard not to speak. She keeps opening her mouth to say something but no words come out, I want to think its because she can’t believe he is actually saying it, its because it is hitting home for her. He literally holds her relationship with Stefan in his fingers and he is telling her, opening up to her, loving her, its pouring out of his blue eyes and his lips are forming her name but yet she can’t form the words. But again this is Damon. He isn't going to give her the choice in this matter because he isn't wanting to burden her and complicate things between her and his brother. So he believes that it is best to make her forget all of it and let her just continue living her life like this man didn't just surrender himself to her. Because when it comes to Elena, Damon understands that his love for her is not about what’s best for him. It’s about what’s best for her. It’s about ensuring she has what she wants and needs, regardless of the personal cost. And the infamous freaking forehead kiss because god dammit he likes breaking hearts. This is what he does when he lets Elena go. He becomes the bigger man and kisses her forehead to tell her to be safe and disappears into the night. All the while the song sings 'I was wrong'. Because in his mind loving Elena is wrong. Because she is his brothers girl and he is the bad brother and how could he ever deserve ‘the’ Elena Gilbert? Loved it! He never fails to make me cry because despite being painted the big bad brother, moments like these just opens up new doors of peeping into the Damon Salvatore world which is way too deep than one can ever imagine.
