There is clear sexual tension between Damon and Elena, and Ian and Nina are masters of nuances in that department. That scene when Damon is holding Elena fist and is getting close to her face from above is very sensual. It is obvious that there will be some push and pull in the love triangle and that the equation of the love of the brothers and the love for Elena is a push and pulls in one or another direction. But Elena is super loyal to Stefan and there is no doubt that she loves him, Stefan realize that and that is the reason why, even if he knows that Damon is in love with her, his trust of his brother to keep her safe and the trust he has at this point of Elena’s love is much stronger than any petty jealousy. To be honest at this point, Elena wanting to be a martyr make sense to a point. To break the curse Klaus will still need a witch, a vampire, a werewolf and a doppelganger, is not that if she dies the others will be spared. I understand she doesn’t want to cross him, and Katherine story scare her to death. But still...she is giving up any hope of finding another solution. It is interesting how you noticed the mirror between Elena and Katherine. Same face opposite life choices, Elena suffer from survival guilt, that is why she is so willing to sacrify herself for her family without blinking. This show is very much about mirrors as you will discover. I bet Damon went around a lot and must have got the attention among the ladies of the vampire community.... that must be the reason he is famous. 😂 Stefan is stuck in the tomb with Katherine, she had such a grin of happiness on her face. Poor Tyler a curse like his you wouldn’t wish it on your worse enemy, but he has Caroline to help him. The point is that Tyler was a jerk because his dad was terrible with him, he was the only child of a very privileged family, therefore he grew up as a spoiled brat. Also, his werewolf gene was pushing him to be violent to kill someone and trigger the curse. But the point of this show is mainly to overcome the legacy of hatred that the parents left to our circle of friends. It’s a journey, and Tyler story line is mostly that. How much I adore Caroline is beyond words. But even if she still loves Matt, she has a lot more things in common with Tyler. and that is a base for a great friendship. With Matt she can't share who she is without freaking him out. In the next episode Michael Trevino will have the chance to show off his excellent acting skills. The level of acting among this cast is spectacular. I can’t wait for you to see the next two episodes.

In this episode I love the minimalistic moments while the story is building up and progressing. I think in this episode the rift between Damon and Elena silently patched up. Elena: “Is that before or after he kills everyone that I care about, including the two of you?”. Until now, Elena has spent this season verbally denying even an ounce of affection for Damon. While her actions spoke otherwise, she claimed to have written him off, which should imply that she doesn’t care anymore. Or at least, not like she used too. In this scene she finally dropped that pretence and reopened the door for Damon. In front of Stefan. “Is that before or after he kills everyone that I care about, including the two of you?” She concludes this question by gesturing toward Damon. And holding his gaze much longer than strictly necessary. That look they share lasts no more than four seconds, but it changes everything. Again. It’s in his face. He recognizes the beginnings of her forgiveness when she doesn’t think twice about including him in her list of people, she’s afraid to lose. I love how both the brothers are working together to protect Elena and their reasoning obvious. It is similar to how in the past they wanted to protect Katherine but this time it is Elena and she is someone who is genuine. Stefan asking Damon to promise him that he will protect Elena no matter what in the end was simply amazing. It wasn't shocking because Stefan already knows that Damon will always protect Elena at any cost but now for Damon it is also a promise he has made to his younger brother. Moreover it's interesting how Rose chose to call Damon about Elena's plan to surrender herself to Klaus. Not just because Rose seems to understand that Damon is better equipped to handle Elena’s current gesture of selfless insanity. But because it sets another example how Damon is again the one to step in and protect Elena. Elena, being the remarkably selfless girl that she is, chose to sacrifice herself to Klaus (or attempt to) to spare the lives of her loved ones. And Rose didn’t hesitate to call in the one person who would never let her get away with it. She knows as we do that Damon will go further than anyone else to secure Elena’s safety. Even if it means risking her wrath all over again. I’ve taken to looking at these moments’ writers’ method of distinguishing how each Salvatore brother loves Elena. Damon and Stefan’s feelings for her are different in almost every conceivable way. And this episode shows us a glimpse of how much disparity there really is. As we saw in this episode, both brothers do something out of the box in the name of their love for Elena. Stefan winds up locked in the tomb with Katherine because he saves Jeremy. Damon was seconds away from being ripped apart by an original to keep Elena from Klaus. The difference? Elena isn’t with Damon, nor does she know how he feels about her. Yet he doesn’t hesitate to put his life on the line for her. With a look on his face that says he’d fight to the death to protect her from any threat. The scene where Damon threatens to carry Elena out of there gives me chills. They’ve had scant interaction recently for a multitude of reasons. So not surprisingly, the first scene they share after their silent truce earlier in the episode is riddled with passion and sexual tension. In what is yet another example of how Damon’s love for Elena is different, he doesn’t even consider trying to persuade her to change her mind and leave with him. He just demands that she do it and if not, he’ll force her out the door. This could seem disconcerting given Damon’s history of trying to force people to do things his way. But this time, his actions are coming from a place of love. He’s trying to save her from her own folly, even if he has to fight her to accomplish it which is what I find interesting about this exchange. It’s a fight, like many of their early conversations in the series. But it’s a fight where Elena is the one in the wrong, even though she doesn’t believe she is. Even more interesting is the way the dynamic has subtly changed between them on the other side of Damon’s secret love confession and Elena’s silent gesture of forgiveness. Because before now, a fight like this would not have played out in this manner. Yes, she’s slapped him before in the heat of the moment and yes, he’s pulled the menacing, impulsive vampire card when she does. But this isn’t like those other times. Something is simmering between them that wasn’t there before. More than passion or tension or barely concealed anger. Twice in this episode we hear Elena adding Damon to her list of loved ones and it's beautiful but what she doesn't realise is that Damon is going to put in much effort than he ever did now to protect her from any harm not just because he loves her but because despite his errors in the past she has still not stopped caring about him. That is a huge thing for him.

Jeremy in this episode was an idiot I am sorry :( He took a huge risk going to meet Katherine alone because clearly it was doomed from the beginning. I understand his protectiveness for Bonnie and I appreciate his gesture because of his intentions but it didn't make sense to me logically. I really liked how you Harry picked up on Elena being manipulative similar to Katherine when she wants to get things done but the difference is that Elena isn't doing things to harm others but is trying to protect them by sacrificing herself. I don't like her giving up but again I cannot deny that she must be going through immense amount of stress and therefore her choosing to give up and surrender if it meant her loved ones will be left alone and safe. But still very glad that Damon and Rose acted fast and stopped her from going ahead with this stupid plan. Caroline and Tyler were really cute! I am super scared for Tyler after watching him look at that vlog, it was excruciating!! But then he is lucky to have Caroline by his side because she knows what it feels like it to be alone and she would be a great friend and support system. Tyler in this season so far has been only rising and cannot wait for the next episode because the actor 'Michael Trevino' will shine through!
