I love Klaroline but this first scene is out of no where tbh. But the main reason behind it was because he wanted to secure an invitation into their home, not just hers but also the sheriff's, and also have the sheriff on his side. On top of that, instead of just saving Caroline, he had to paint a picture for her of what life could be like, making her have to *ask* him to save her, giving himself even more power in the situation and making her more vulnerable than she already was. But I love most of their interactions after this one

Also love that when Elena is talking to Matt about the girl she used to be, and said "didn't fall in love with vampires". She uses the plural here, and it could be just her using a generalized term to emphasize that Stefan is a vampire, but I really think she's referring to both brothers, even if just subconsciously because she won't consciously admit her feelings for Damon

Though I agree that from a viewer point of view, bad Stefan is very entertaining in the storyline, and Paul is so good at it, Stefan is such a major dbag to Elena He calculatedly using Elena’s trauma to win his revenge battle with Klaus is what in my opinion should be the nail on the Stelena coffin. He left her there crying after throwing her phone. His justification is that he lost her, and the cracking on his voice is only an unjustifiable excuse for self pity. He could have apologised, instead he chooses to feel sorry for himself. Did he ever lose Elena? No. He could have come back to her after Klaus lift the compulsion, instead he chose revenge. What he actually lost? Not Damon, not everybody’s friendship, nobody is blaming him for what he did. The only things that he is really lost is his reputation as a good brother, the persona he presented to be to everybody was a lie, and know everybody knows. That is the only thing he has lost, his fake good reputation, that to Stefan is more important than anything else. Damon is always trying to patch up things between Stefan and Elena, he knows what he did and he is trying to twist things around to make a traumatic experience tuning into something positive. He was so happy that Elena kissed him back, and Elena hasn’t come to term with her feeing yet, she couldn’t sleep because she kissed him back and that is another thing to ponder about, with everything she has going on in her life. Regarding the compulsion of Jeremy It is in theory not correct to take someone choice away but if I was in Elena’s shoes, I would have done the same, Jeremy is the only family she has left and she has lost so many people. Everybody has a role in this show and Matt role is to represent the human resilience and the support that only a very long time friend that know you for all your life can give you, that is Matt to Elena Caroline and Bonnie he is the fourth of the original group. The scene on the bridge between Matt and Elena couldn’t have happen between with any other character, Matt is Elena oldest friend and an ex, they share a profound connection and certain things Elena can tell them only to Matt, because he won’t judge her, he will give her his support and his tender encouragement because they love each other and to Elena her friends, now that even Jeremy is leaving, are the only family she has. Klaus and Caroline. Klaus knows everybody in the town, he carefully studied everybody since he was in Alaric's body. He used her (and Tyler) as a distraction plan in case one of the Salvatore would try to spoil his plans for the sacrifice. So he knows Caroline very well from a distance and he must have started to fancy her. He wants to settle down in Mystic Falls so he is manipulating the town’s authority getting in their good grace. He asked Tyler to bit her so that, first, he could strike a deal of cooperation out of the Sheriff, two, to have free access to Caroline's home, three to appear like the rescuer to Caroline’s eyes. It’s a case of killing two birds with one stone. Then he let her see that he is a cultured man and that there is more of him than any others would know, and let her drinks his blood directly from his arm, (not from a container as he did in other cases) while embracing her, in an act that is very intimate. He was trying to seduce her and to express his admiration he gift her with an extremely expensive bracelet making Tyler’s one looking very cheap. He is very crafty.

You @Harry understand why we love this show. It is entertaining, is a thriller an horror and action pact show but most of all, uses all supernatural situations to explore humanity, psychology, feelings in all their shades, unlike any others show I've ever seen. While in other show a bad character is just bad and don't give the audience any explanation why that person is bad, in TVD every character has its story its background, its motivations and everybody is the hero of his or her story, so that you can manage to make a true connection with the characters. And that is as rare as it gets, because nowdays nobody has anymore the time, the money, the freedom and the favourable circumstances to make shows as complex, detailed and made with such care as they did with this one.

By the way Meredit Fell is Paul's first wife. They were still married at that time.

I don't even know where to begin😂Alright I am going to start with Bonnie and Elena. One thing I do admire about their friendship is the honesty shared between them. Bonnie doesn't hide her disappointment regarding the compulsion and I honestly cannot deny that she has a point but at the end she comes around because she understood the intention behind Elena's decision. Now, Elena herself isn't feeling too good about having to compel her brother yet again but sometimes you have to make the hard decisions while knowing that it's not fully right but if the situation demands it, so be it. In short; we all go through these things in life where you have to choose not between right and wrong but sometimes between the two greater good or less wrong choice. Damon being chirpy in the morning is obviously because Elena kissed him back; I can't blame him for having that moment to himself and be happy about it😂❤️Elena on the other hand is going through a whole rollercoaster of emotions for all the obvious and right reasons. One she did respond to the kiss and you could tell from the look of her eye in the end that she wanted more in the moment so having to rethink about it only means for her to dive deep into her feelings and introspect, which she is avoiding because she is going to judge herself heavily. And again like you said Harry, Stefan is still in the picture! These two haven't broken up officially; there is still a lot lingering in the air and it complicates it from her perspective which Damon understands because lets not forget he in the past knows this feeling of betrayal. Damon believed he was with Katherine and then his younger brother had an affair with her behind his back; which of course had happened but it's Katherine and not Elena so he would obviously know that Elena won't be okay with the kiss suddenly over night even though she responded to the kiss and gave away her feelings. Harry I am not going to lie when I started this show last year, I was also feeling weird about the brothers falling in love with the same girl because it realistically is strange but one can't deny that in this show, the writing supports the changing feelings. It doesn't happen overnight, things happen gradually and I think after all of this many things feel natural. And I got over it in Season 1 itself but also because I didn't like how Stefan was presenting a certain version of himself to Elena whom he had already known about from observing her from a distance😂 Caroline poor girl does always ends up being the bait. Klaus and his games is insane. I felt equally bad for Tyler because when I saw him standing up to Klaus and telling him 'NO' I wouldn't hurt Caroline was amazing!! From that moment he believed he had control of his choice only to find out later that things didn't work this way sadly. It's like trial and error and learning from mistakes which can be costly because it's an unchartered territory. The idea of the funeral was brilliant! It's so important for these youngsters to come to terms and verbally acknowledge that they are no longer the people they used to be but that's okay. Things have happened and all of them have been trying their super best to deal with these things. Elena feeling stuck, I mean who wouldn't in her place? She has lost all of her guardians/parents, to protect her brother has to compel him and send him away and her heart being confused between two vampire brothers who have been there for her and love to no end...I mean it's just perfect. But seriously like Matt said she is doing amazing! Yes she is making mistakes along the way but she is doing nothing but her best. And I absolutely have to give it to Matt that he is such a great friend. His own life is not easy but I love the bond Elena and him share. They have known each other as kids, dated and now back to being friends so I don't think there could be anyone better than Matt to be with Elena on that bridge and say goodbye to old Elena. She wants to move forward but being able to move forward are two different things yet these mini steps are going to be helpful for her. Stefan is operating on crazy as best said by Damon! See here we are seeing the role reversal, Damon is the more calm and controlled one and Stefan is being the impulsive and endearing one. Damon asks Klaus to blink because he doesn't know how far Stefan is going to take things was something I loved because no one better than Damon would know what it can be like for a vampire to be acting reckless. I love seeing this side of Stefan just like I love watching Damon being Damon because these two are always making these things look really saucy! But Stefan is solely focused on revenge right now. Stefan threatening to turn Elena into a vampire to make Klaus bow down was a good part for his plan because her fear sold it. But if I were to think about S2 when Damon forcefully feeds Elena his blood, it was because he wanted to protect her dying in the sacrifice. Mind you, he knew it was wrong but that whole sense of moral was out of the window for him because all that mattered was her staying alive one way or another. But here, Stefan does this because he wants his revenge from Klaus (a huge difference). And to make it worse, he threatens to drive her over the same bridge where her parents died and she was supposed to die. I mean come on, how much worse could it be? I won't agree with Stefan in this scene, he isn't trying to make her hate him because he is thinking about her moving on but instead is somewhere okay to make her hate him because then he doesn't have to feel guilty. Again it's two different things. It wasn't about Elena but all about him. He says that he lost her the moment he left town and I'm thinking how do you know? Didn't she try to come and save you from Klaus twice putting her and Damon's life at stake? Did she not care for you? So I think he is trying to escape his own guilt because now his feelings are on dimmer switch so he can feel some amount of guilt which he doesn't want to indulge into. Klaus and Caroline gives me very weird feelings. I won't deny that it gave us the chance to see Klaus being soft and caring which is unusual but it doesn't sit right with him because there has no been build-up for this kind of intimacy between the two. Like @patpet said we have to assume a lot of things like how he must have been studying Caroline since the time when he was in Alaric's body and maybe started fancying her but he plays such dirty mind games that it puts me off. I know it's an unpopular opinion but it's my view point. I might have felt differently if there was a gradual build-up. Lastly coming to the most beautiful line of the episode. "It's right, it's just not right now". It was such a beautiful scene! Damon was concerned for Elena but at the same time he wasn't badmouthing brother. He could have been all pissed and talking about shit about Stefan in front of Elena but he doesn't. Instead he being the big bad brother appreciates his younger brother beating the villain; I find it damn cute that he doesn't hide his pride😂but coming to Elena just before he leaves, he reassures that she doesn't need to feel guilty about the kiss. It happened and it's not happening because she doesn't feel it is right. Although there is nothing wrong with them two kissing each other willingly but it's not right now because like she said she doesn't feel good about it in terms of morals and he himself had said that he would feel guilty about the kiss just before he kissed her. They both know that Stefan is still very much in the picture and they're trying to be respectful about it as much as they can given their feelings and the circumstances. And mind you, Elena might be saying 'NO', but if Damon leaned into another kiss, she wouldn't have stopped it. But love that they both kept the distance and respected things.

Damon is the deliverer of the most iconic lines in TVD. "I Do Believe In Killing The Messenger. Know Why? Because It Sends A Message."; "If I see something I haven't see before, I throw a dollar at it"; "Hello Brother."; “Vampires can't procreate. But we love to try.” the one from this episode and still so many to come....

Oh, Stefan, what have you done?‼️ Why throw away love over vengeance. Ironically, Klaus said that Stefan and Elena's love is the kind that never dies, and yet here we see Stefan putting the final nail in the coffin. Harry, I asked myself the same question numerous times as to why Stefan would choose Wickery bridge to enact his vengeance on Klaus. Are there no other roads he could have chosen? What makes Stefan's actions toward Elena so twisted is that Elena told him in season 1, episode 20, that she felt guilty because her parents went to get her at a party when she was supposed to be at home for family night. The accident happens, Stefan saves Elena, and now he uses that traumatic experience from Elena to gain the upper hand against Klaus. Where are love and compassion? In episode 9, while Stefan was under Klaus's compulsion Stefan was able to lure Klaus back to Mystic Falls with the pretext that Michael was dagger, and Klaus took the bait, so now that Stefan was free from Klaus's compulsion, getting the upper hand on him could have been easier. The worst part for me in this scenario was when Elena told Stefan that he had her, and Stefan responded that she lost him the minute he left town with Klaus. Shortly after, he left Elena alone in the middle of the road. Motherfucker what‼️Didn't you see Elena risking her life to get your ass out of the Appalachian Mountains and Chicago? Or help him get rid of his ripper self with Lexi's help? Didn't Elena's efforts and feelings matter? Is it only his grief that matters? If his reputation is above his love for Elena, did he even love her in the first place? I firmly believe that Stefan’s biggest problem is not his ripper self but how he does not accept his reality. Believing that a person is either all good or all evil are the stuff of fairy tales. Stefan can not accept that a single individual possess virtue and flaws. This precise moment is when stelena dies for me. Symbolically, stelena was over after episode 5 because Elena never wore the necklace that Stefan gave her ever again.

The scene with Matt and Elena over the bridge is so dear to my heart. I love how Matt listens to Elena without judgment, giving thoughtful advice and reassuring Elena in her moments of uncertainty. I love how Elena realizes that she is not the girl she used to be before the accident and that keeping that sentiment of what used to be doesn't serve a purpose anymore. Elena is growing into a lady. She is not a girl anymore.

Maribel Humble

Elena, who do you think you are kidding? ‼️Girl, you know you wanted that kiss ‼️You might have felt guilty, but you still wanted that kiss. And I dare say more than Damon too. That kiss got you all worked up earlier today, right? You took your frustrations out on a the punching bag. Now why are you drinking that large cup of coffee this morning? I bet you didn't get much sleep last night, tossing and turning with guilt, but oh, uh, mm, that kiss, that kiss ‼️ You have never been kissed like that before, right, Elena? Girl, I understand. The truth is that we all understand how a kiss like that can leave us breathlessly. 🤣 I love how Damon didn't use Elena's vulnerability at this moment to his advantage to kiss Elena. He knew she wanted a kiss, but he was also aware of her guilt. Damon didn't want to initiate anything with Elena until her feelings were resolved. He knew Stefan and Elena's relationship had a terrible fallout, and yet Damon didn't use this opportunity to badmouth or sabotage his brother to get Elena. But he didn't. Damon wants her to chose without any doubts. He wants the relationship with Elena to be honest. Damon wants it to be real.
