Concerned that her brother Klaus is up to no good, Rebekah seeks help from a reluctant Sophie. At her wits end, Hayley takes matters into her own hands, but things quickly take a dangerous turn. Determined to uncover Marcel's secret weapon, Klaus stays one step ahead and executes his plan. You picked up a couple of things quick about the different magic types, or practices of magic; and about Elijah's "role" in the family... He has indeed taken up the role of head of the family or "father figure" to the other siblings... This was of course touched on in TVD, with how Klaus interacted with him, Rebekah and the rest of the family; even tho they would constantly argue or fight each other, each of them spoke about or dealt with Elijah in a certain way that hinted his "status" in the family. This gets explored in this show in much more detail... Back then, throughout the centuries, Klaus was just as wild and crazy and hard to deal with but not as physically powerful since he wasn't a hybrid, but he still had the advantage of the daggers that he used to get control over the family since those didn't work on him... But still, when it comes to physically handling Klaus, back then Elijah would've been able to do so, and he is still able to go pretty close to punch for punch with Klaus, specially since Elijah is a much much more skilled fighter; but has you've seen, Elijah prefers to deal with Klaus in other ways rather than outright beat the shit out of him, or try to, probably because of Mikael and the abuse he inflicted upon Klaus... So Elijah chooses to wrangle Klaus in different ways before resorting to beating some sense into him, even tho now he is much more likely to loose that fight, but Elijah doesn't really fear anyone or anything. A good example would be in last episode, the scene where they went at it when Elijah was "convincing" Klaus to take responsibility for the baby; When Elijah is down and tells him how guilty he feels for not intervening when Mikael mistreated Klaus, Klaus tells him he is "a sentimental fool", and Elijah's response is "perhaps, but I've lasted this long in spite of it, haven't I?"... That is a direct counter argument against Klaus WHOLE life philosophy that having feelings means you are weak, that caring, being kind, being calm, that all of it means showing weakness and it's to be avoided and replaced by aggression and brutality and shows of power, etc... And Elijah is basically telling him and showing him that, look, I still manage to feel all of those feelings, behave in the way that I behave most of the time, and I'm not only still here and others not only fear me, but A LOT of people, even enemies, RESPECT him or praise some aspect of his... Next episode there is another really interesting and important scene surrounding this topic and who Elijah is in the family and what he really represents to Klaus in a way.

TO is different from TVD. I remind you that the writers are the same, brilliant. So they know how to make a show that stand up by itself and the actors charisma make the show believable and captivating, the characters relatable. Klaus is an acquare taste, what you like about him is invincibility, his cunning ability to be always one step ahead of everyone. The relationship between the Mikealson is complicated, I always thought that the relationship between Klaus and Rebekkah, his jelousy of her, his possessiveness has a hint of incestuous feeling from Klaus part. He thinks of himself and his family as royalty as superior to any other vampire and her sister as something that is above them all, and her wanting not to be above but normal is a constant disappointment to him, it's sort of deminising their value, selling herself short. He value above all his power, his immortality, the fact that they are the first, that all the vampire bloodlins depend on them, so has forgotten the value of the lesser minial human feelings, like loving somone selflessly and wanted to be loved back. Probably if we all lived for more than a century we all would become num to emotions and became very cinical, disinchanted and cold hearted.

These two comments above are all reasons why Klaus is one of my fav characters of all time, i just think he is so well written and i rly love villains/antihero character types This show explores his and Elijah’s character more so im excited to see how u react to that TO differs as of right now from the vampire diaries cause it feels like we are watching this show from the villains perspective which is what i rly like about it

Marcel is extremely intelligent and attentive. He has lots of similarities to Klaus but he has loyalties and humanity towards his people which I respect. Yes, New Orleans is in the state of Louisiana. It's very deep in the south. My ancestors are from Mississippi right above it, but after Emancipation Proclamation they split up & fled to free states called Missouri & Illinois. I love how the show ties in real life events.

The Mikealson family is a family of villains, lets not bitting around the bush about it, they are all ruthless, when it comes to get what they want, on different degrees, of course, and they all have different motivations, but even though Klaus is the more apparent villain because he acts impulsively, he is paranoid and mistrusting of everybody and makes a lot of noise when he is hungry, I've always though that Elijah is the most ruthless of them all, he is the scariest one because he is calm, collected, with his suave and charm, his own morals, conquer you, allure you to his corner. But make no mistake he can kills you without emotions, with minimum effort, with no warning, he can take your heart out of your chest without loosing composure. He is like a cat with his pray playing with it before killing it. That is how TO is different from TVD, TVD is a show about misunderstood, abused people, discriminated against, desperate for redemption, love, the warmth of home and family; TO is about a family of villains and how they got to be this way and why they should seek redemption even though they don't care about it or how they act because they consider themselves far too gone to get it anyway.

I agree about Elijah. Klaus is scary because he's unhinged and lashes out when he's emotional. Elijah is scary because he's always so composed, so when he lashes out there's almost no warning
