The Great Dragon is finally free. Full of rage, he attacks Camelot with pitiless intensity. The castle is crumbling and Arthur's men cannot hold out much longer but only a Dragonlord can command a dragon and Uther wiped them all out years ago. Or did he? Gaius admits one such man could still be alive and in hiding.

I love that you're watching Merlin! I saw the show when it first aired and I love it so much. I think I'll rewatch the whole show now. I hope you'll continue watching! There's so many amazing episodes to come.

Especially the season finales are so powerful. And Colin Morgan is such an amazing actor. Also, so many of your predictions on what might happen next have come true, love it.

The PAIN in Balinor's eyes as he realised who Merlin is...this is just ONE MORE thing that Uther has taken away from him. It is so unfair that Merlin and Balinor barely had a day together. Colin Morgan really brought his A game this episode. I really felt all the emotions - his pure happiness at telling Balinor who he is, calling Balinor "father" for the first time, his grief as Balinor died in his arms, struggling to contain his grief in front of Arthur, his tears in court when Arthur declared Balinor was dead, his tears as he told Kilgharrah to leave...Man, he was VERY emotive. Uther is the worst kind of tyrant. Even now, he's unable to admit even to himself that this was his doing. He even has that "there are many years where I would have wished for that news" line. Like...REALLY!?!? He's thrilled about the extermination of an entire race of people AND an entire race of magical beings, and kept the last dragon as a souvenir of his genocide. When Arthur got angry at Balinor for not wanting to help Camelot, I was a bit frustrated with him. On one hand, I do totally understand that we ARE talking about innocent people. On the other, Arthur is not a child anymore. I know it's difficult to break through the ideologies you were constantly taught your whole life but surely he's got enough empathy and braincells now to understand what Uther did to Balinor's people might not endear the man to jauntily skip back into Camelot to help him. I fully believe that if Balinor HAD made it to Camelot and HAD stopped Kilgharrah, Uther would have then had Balinor executed. He was never going to reunite with Hunith. I WISH they did a magic reveal for Arthur this episode. Ofc we know now when it was revealed but I'm just so frustrated with this show for not literally doing anything to undo the prejudice Uther had instilled in Arthur and showing through Merlin AND the destiny they share that magic isn’t evil. There were so many missed opportunities that it's just disheartening. Arthur's idiocy is funny sometimes like...where did he think the corpse of the giant dragon he "dealt a mortal blow" to went??? He's hilarious 🤭 And oh yes...Sir Leon and the fandom mythology of his immortality. There are fanfics about him literally surviving to the modern age with Merlin 😂😂😂 Love that they left him to come back on his own, injured, just so Merthur could have their cool shot walking through the fog together 😅 Best non-painful part of this episode is the growing bond between Merlin and Arthur. Their friendship is too sweet. It's giving me cavities in the best way.
