I told you there was going to be gay characters, but they are not done like nowadays, just to put a representation, it is done meaningfully, with great characters anybody can relate to, emotionally, with great actors, with significant stories. And that is not just in TO, you just have to be patient. I love Josh character, he is so well written, and I love the friendship with Davina.

TO is an extension, an enlargement on the TVD initial universe, therefore it is not a spin off per se in the classical way spin offs are made, it's so much more. It's the story of the original family continuing in another location, separate from TVD but parallel to what is going on in TVD. You need to watch TVD first, though, otherwise you would be so confused about the lore, the story, the characters motivations and actions, that would detract from the pleasure and full comprehension of the story and the characters development from where they started in TVD until the end. So Tyler looking for revenge left Mystic Falls to get to New Orleans, to get totally humiliated by Klaus. He wouldn't killed him, because of Caroline, but Klaus is clever and very vicious when he wants to be, so he found a way to punish him very harshly, for daring to go after him and his baby, anyway. Revenge never pays off, we've seen it with Stefan, Elena and now with Tyler, especially if you are going after an Original, you might have a small chance of outsmarting them, as they did in TVD when they put Klaus to sleep, but it took the entire group effort to succeed, Tyler is too emotional and isolated to be thinking and acting smartly. And yes, Joseph Morgan is a great actor, and plays Klaus as nobody else could. Klaus is one of the best villain I ever seen on a TV series, but that is because of Joseph playing it, for sure. The casting in TVDU is perfection, every actor fits the character like a glove, at the point that you couldn't possibly imagine anybody else play any of the characters rather than the actor chosen for the role. TVDU in all it's aspect is very unique and I haven't seen anything quite like it in any other show.

Absolutely agree about it being an extension, it truly feels so fleshed out that TO is simply showing another area in TVDU that runs parallel. And omg THE CASTING, IMPECCABLE, like you said you literally can't imagine a single character played by anyone else!

Really looking forward to see how he develops as the show goes on! Loving his relationship with Davina already

I didn't like how they portrayed Tyler in this episode. Other than the TVD pilot where everything was a mess, I don't think he's ever been capable of doing anything like he did in this episode. It was so out of character, even with his blind revenge on Klaus, I don't even like to remember it happened.

I think the babys blood can create hybrids without the blood of the Doppelgänger because that is how it naturally works. I think Klaus just needed it because of Esther's spell that suppressed his werewolf side. It was part of that spell, as a failsafe, to make sure he wouldn't be able to create hybrids after breaking it.

Great explanation! I wanted to comment this but totally forgot after I fell asleep 😅

Harry Allen

Omg thank you! I was sure there must be a reason as its not like TVD to just throw something out there with 0 reasoning

Yeah i'm ngl, this show is usually amazing in how they portray their characters and how they would react in certain situations, but this felt SO off. Like yeah in the past Tyler has been a dick and not the BEST person, but since helping other werewolves he seemed to become a much better person, this was just so weird to see

New here and a bit late but here i am. Hello!! this was one of the most frustrating episodes i've watched back the first time and was the same now that i've rewatched it with you. this was probably the first time to me Klaus had all the rights to be a victim and his biting Elijah the most pleasing. i know this sounds weird but bear with me haha. Elijah didn't deserve to get bitten cause he accused a monster of being one, but because he, for a smart man, was the stupidest one in this episode. how is everyone suddenly forgetting that majority of people knew of the child before the child's own father did. Elijah himself has seen and heard that Klaus had no idea he was gonna be a father, had to speak unhealthy amount of times to him to make him wanna be a parent. Him and Hayley both know Klaus knows nothing about the baby other than the theories that it could be a werewolf or a vampire etc. Hayley herself knows Klaus knows just as much as her and just found out about the gender after she herself thought that it might be a girl. Frankly, he knows nothing. but suddenly Hayley believes a man that kidnapped her and wanted to kill her and a baby over the family that protects her and Elijah believes a girl he just me over a brother he claims he oh so loves and will stand by through everything?? i guess not just humans but Original vampires can also be as fickle as it can get. i was way disappointed in both of them than i could even imagine. And that's exactly where me disliking Elijah's whole character started. i don't know.. the second everything happened i saw that even Elijah's pretty "strong" morals and principles about family and so just vanishes the moment he finds his own reasons. he himself said he was fast and willing to accuse Klaus of something. that is all and as a new member here i wanna say i love your reactions a lot, lot. objectivity and non bias is what attracts me to reactors this days, especially to such shows like TVD and TO where only thing majority thinks of is stupid ships where there's plenty that's more important. about The Originals tho, i have to say i never thought i'd love a character itself as much as Klaus but Marcel's proved me wrong. i hope you see that character with the same objectivity in the future. thank you and looking forward to more!!

I never comment or anything on any posts, but I just had to get one of my thoughts out there for this episode. Elijah and Rebekah are constantly calling Klaus paranoid and I don't think that's fair. Paranoia is defined as "unjustified suspicion and mistrust of other people or their actions. the unwarranted or delusional belief that one is being persecuted, harassed, or betrayed by others." The key words are "unjustified" and "unwarranted." It is made extremely clear both in flashbacks and some dialogue that Klaus and his family have no shortage of enemies. Enemies that are constantly trying to formulate a way to bring Klaus and/or his family down. For instance, Marcel, he has been plotting to get rid of the originals from the moment they stepped back in New Orleans. He straight up told Davina to find a way to kill an original. Tyler, based on his actions and what we've seen in TVD, has been actively plotting revenge on Klaus this entire time but somehow Klaus is paranoid? It's NOT paranoia if someone is actually after him. Rebekah and Elijah act as if just because Klaus' enemies aren't sitting in their living room drawing out their revenge plot on a whiteboard somehow means they don't exist. This just feels very dismissive of Klaus' feelings in my opinion.

Hayley backstabbed Tyler first but this is too much
