When Tyler turns up at the Salvatore house with the news that Markos' plan to break the witches' curse puts Stefan and Elena in imminent danger, Damon suggests they hide out in the remote cabin once owned by Caroline's father. Once there, it becomes obvious to Caroline that Stefan and Elena are keeping a secret, so Damon comes up with a parlor game designed to expose the truth. A ghostly presence at the cabin uses violence and fire to make itself known. Meanwhile, Matt takes charge of Tyler's plan to get information from one of the Travelers and Bonnie continues to keep the truth about the Other Side from Jeremy, despite warnings from Grams.

To clarify some points, the command didn’t work for two reasons, because Tyler was transforming and the compulsion have to work on a specific being and Tyler was in between, also she wasn’t looking in his eyes, she was away from him and that doesn’t work if you aren’t close to someone’s head, face or ears. Yep, Luke asked a big question, that went unnoticed because everybody was in vampire survival mode. But it is a big question, also because everybody’s condition is linked to a witch spell done with traditional magic, and we’ve already seen the consequences of messing with a witch spell creation, the other side unravelling. So yes, what is going to happen to witches’ magic? Oh yes Caroline is clearly a tiny winsy jealous. I love how she implied to Damon that there could have been something between Stefan and Elena and Damon didn’t ever consider it as remote possibility and that must have been about something else…lying about Enzo Now Stefan and Damon. The major difference between the two brothers is that Stefan does everything base on reputation, he cares about his good reputation more than anything, and act, say things and would go to any length to keep his “good brother” label give it to him when they were humans and he always go back to it, to that moment and he is motivated mainly by that. Damon cannot care less what anybody things about him, he learn to lower his expectation on the importance of people judgement in his life, because he knows more than anybody how people perception can be terribly wrong and because he understood the importance of darkness and how sometimes is necessary to stay alive and to keep the people he loves alive, forcing him to do things that are necessary but that not everybody is cut for it, like for example what Enzo did instead of Caroline, by killing of Tom Avery. It is easy for Stefan to keep intact his reputation when he knows that he can count on Damon to do the dirty work when is needed and let him get all the hate and the bad judgement. Stefan knew Damon wouldn’t go on a tangent but use that excuse with Elena knowing that that was the discussion they had and reinforce it with a lie about Damon being a liar, when we know that that isn’t true, because Damon no matter how uncomfortable and inconvenient is, never EVER lies. So, to protect his reputation he pulls the Stefan act of manipulation, not to face consequences and not to give his brother and Caroline that is just as judgmental as he is, a very good reason to hate him, giving to himself the “bad brother” reputation. But Damon didn’t spiral, not even close, but not because of Elena, but because he loves Stefan much more than anything bad he could ever do. Damon is not Stefan, ready to judge from a self-righteous position that doesn’t match with the reality of his life as a vampire. Damon act like an adult, a big brother with Stefan, he knows nobody is perfect, everybody can make mistakes, especially if you take action “ he who never does any action, it’s never in the wrong” which summaries why Stefan prefer Damon to do the dirty work most of the time and when he get in the situation where thing goes very wrong, he doesn’t have the maturity to face consequences, hiding behind a little finger while converging his behind, by lying, manipulating and acting like a child. Nobody counts more to Damon than his brother, probably not even Elena. And Stefan doesn’t seem to know. To him the lying is unexcitable, not to understand that that was his friends and he should know about his death before anybody else, plus forcing Elena to lie to him, was seriously out of line, not to mention putting everybody in danger. That was the significance of the punch he gave to Stefan, as a big brother would, as a learning lesson to his little brother making stupid immature decisions, followed by a statement, that that was the last he would hear on the matter, making clear to Stefan on the scale of importance people he loves have in his life, where he has precedence. Stefan didn’t want to be hated by Damon, and Damon got hungry with Stefan because he should have known by now, that he loves him more than anything bad he could do, now he knows.

In this episode I am once again annoyed with Stefan and Caroline. Stefan doesn't really know or understand his big brother at all. Stefan pushing Elena to lie to Damon's face and then telling her not to feel bad because Damon keeps lying to her. I hate it when he's so self-righteous and judgmental. And then Caroline. She doesn't know her best friend Elena at all. Otherwise she wouldn't even consider Elena going back to Stefan. She should know that even though she's not with Damon right now, Elena loves him irrevocably and deeply. Everyone can see that in her looks and gestures. Then Caroline's reproachful words about why she wasn't let in on the secret about Enzo. Maybe because it had nothing to do with you, Caroline. Irony on" But maybe it would have been funny if they had all three lied to Damon's face" Irony off Elena calling out to Damon in the bathroom during the incident is so sweet. It's like an instinct. Elena knows Damon will come to protect and save her. Yes, and Damon is coming to help her. Just like it's always been. Whether they're in a relationship or not. And then the last scene. Damon tries in such a cute way to make Elena understand why he's mad at her. Not because she lied to him, but because he can't manage to stay away from her. That she unleashes a storm of madness in him because he loves her so much that it consumes his life. That he needs her in his life. He fights so hard against his killer instincts. Not just for Elena, but for everyone he loves, and for himself. He knows what happened the last time he let his instincts and feelings run wild, and he doesn't want that to happen again.

Oh my...that scene in the bathroom, I though the same, she just called Damon instinctively and he run to her. They're soul is bound together, they can fight it, stay apart, but they can't deny how deeply in love they are.

I love how Damon reaches for the towel first to cover Elena before he helps her out of the tub. Sweet 🍭🍬🧁

Tina

Yes, they can't fight it. What belongs together also finds together.
