You are so on point. Elena is living a fake life a fake happiness. The point of compulsion is that you altered memories, but you cannot altered an entire life, all the things that makes you YOU, therefore you cannot altered the reason why she fell in love with Damon. And those reasons are still there, subconsciously are present because as soon as he was in danger she panicked, you can tell she was really scared and that is what triggered her wanting to get her memory back, because the old Elena is still there. She can't reconcile her not understanding how she could have loved "Damon the monster" and her feelings of her frantically panicking and not wanting him to die. Cleary something inside her doesn't add up and she started to realise that. So now that Alaric, cannot compelled her memories back, how this is going to go? Oh, I love Jo, she is feisty, has a great sense of humour and she is a lady that knows what she wants and she wants Alaric, who can blame her? And I bet after what she has done for him all the reservation Alaric had before are gone....so let's see what happen there too. Caroline doesn't want to be friend with Stefan because she thought before everything happen that their friendly relationship was developing into something else, and Stefan seems oblivious to that. So after she felt abandoned, discarded, like she didn't mean anything to him at all. So from her point of view she is not interested in going back to be only friends, that is not where she is, and she doesn't want to be what is convenient to Stefan, without him to acknowledge that her feelings have been hurt. I love the friendship between Damon and Alaric, I love how he is pissed at him but very mildly, because he is very happy to have him around again anyway. And last but not least, Damon and Bonnie friendship is pure gold ad who would have guessed that those two would have had such a sweet warm relationship. Damon has the best friend relationships, because Damon is honest, loyal, and protective, and when he loves he loves with deep intensity.

Hi Patpet - another in depth analysis of the episode. I love the fact that even though she had her memories compelled away, that won't remove the reasons she fell for Damon in the first place. Agree that Caroline feels like Stefan just tossed her and everyone else aside and she felt unimportant. On the other hand, she missed Stefan but he had lost his brother and needed space. Left alone, he may have eventually just returned on his own. I love Damon and Bonnie's relationship now. Who would have thought from the first few episodes that they would every be that close. Nice to see you here and responding to Harry's reactions. I am here till end of month. I cancelled all patreon subscriptions as I had 5 or 6 and only watched TVD ones. Therefore I wasn't getting the full benefit of any subscription as they only post maybe 3 or 4 a month if that. I will perhaps wait till there's a whole season to bring and rejoin for a month to do that. I will still follow them all on normal you tube channels.

HI @HeatherB I totally agree with you Stefan's feelings of wanting space because he lost his much loved brother where completely valid, I don't blame Stefan of anything in the list. The point is that everybody was devastated and in their own way, everybody point of view is valid for one reason or another. That shows how important Damon and Bonnie are for the group, without them the group fell apart.
