That final scene! how are you after that cliffhanger? What are your thoughts on what season 3 might hold for us? One of the scenes that got me in this episode was the Tao and Nick scene, when they discuss Charlie and Tao asks Nick "you know how bad the bullying was?" And Nick mentions he heard some stuff but Charlie never spoke about it, my heart sunk when Tao said "me neither" taking that into account, with the information we get from the conversation between Charlie and Nick in this episode, what are your final thoughts on Charlie's arc and growth this season? I think it's safe to say the chemistry between Joe and Kit this season was on another level compared to season 1, especially in that last scene, but also throughout the season (that last scene took 7 hours to film because Joe and Kit and the team wanted it to be just right)

“Perfect” has been a theme throughout this season. At the end of the first episode, we had Charlie telling Tori that “everything (with Nick’s coming out) is gonna be perfect.” This is obviously revisited this episode, but it’s also referenced in in episode 6 when Darcy tries to make Tara’s party perfect for her. What do you think this repeated theme says about the characters who fixate on it (Charlie and Darcy), and what do you think the show itself is trying to say by titling the final episode “Perfect”? (Why does this sound like an essay question on an exam lol)

I hate exams, but I would kinda love a Heartstopper exam, just saying 🤷🏻

What is your take on Harry as of the end of this season? Do you think he has actually changed? Has he only changed his tune out of desire to ingratiate himself to Nick again (or at least try)?

Isis Rose

What do you think of the hinted Imogen/Sahar pairing? Do you think that's why they weren't at Nick's for the after-prom party?

I was really impressed by nick and charlie's relationship, how trusting it is, enabling charlie to open up to nick about the bullying, because we know charlie went through the whole thing on his own. He didn't even tell his best friend anything other than that it was happening. And it took him 3 months to tell Mr Ajayi. No one knew about the ED though. So just wondering on your thoughts about a 13 year old dealing with all of that on his own. No wonder he leaves Nick's feeling loved and seen and safe. Maybe for the first time in his life.

I feel like the moral of the whole season is "not everything in life can be perfect, but that's OK"

this was a very emotionally draining season & finale with a lot of development and focus on characters who didn't get much focus last season - who has been your favourite character to learn more about this season, and/or what has been your favourite character arc this season? what are your theories for season 3? also, what are your thoughts on the mental health aspects of this season (mainly with charlie's arc) and do you think they have been handled well & respectfully? i was also wondering if you noticed the cameos of alice oseman's books throughout this season? (the book loveless, which is about an aroace girl coming to terms with her sexuality, was featured in the background during the james and isaac talk in ep 7, and it was also in the shakespeare and co' bookshop scene in paris, as well as the heartstopper novels behind isaac in the bottom right corner as he's collecting his books, and this winter and radio silence a few rows above! i just think it's fun when adaptations put fun easter eggs like that in for fans to spot, aha, although it hurts my brain to think all these characters exist in books in universe, lmao.

what did you think of that ending scene and the incredible acting from kit and joe? ( joe said it took them 7/8 hours to film it ) when nick is saying goodbye to charlie hes looking at him with a smile and so much love but when he closes the door his face shifts to one of fear and uncertainty, what do you think is going through his mind at that moment?

Olivia

general end of season questions: - favourite episode - favourite scene from each episode - favourite character - favourite song/music choice ( fun fact! the final song of this season is called ur so pretty and its by the band wasia project with william gao who plays tao and his sister olivia! )

Charlie

Sorry, two very unrelated questions: —What do you think of Nick and Tao’s evolving relationship? Do you see that growing into an even deeper friendship in the future? —What did you think of the moment when the other students approached Nick and Charlie at prom setup to “confirm” their relationship? Do you feel like straight/heteronormative people feel entitled to approach queer relationships in this way? Would the students have reacted the same way if N & C were a straight couple?

Kay

Sorry for the separate post but these are not so much questions but just a couple of "attentions to details" that I love from this episode and my fave from the season! 1) The song in the prom scene at Nick's house is called Seven, and there's seven friends :) 2) Baby Queen is the performer at the school prom and she has most of the songs on the sound track, including writing Colours of You (the song playing when Nick makes his IG post) 3) and this might be my fave. When Nick and Charlie see each other in their prom outfits in Charlie's room, there is a moment when the camera is on Charlie, there's a set of draws with a globe on top that is switched off. When Nick uncovers his eyes and the camera cuts to Charlie again, the globe lights up, like... like a visual representation that Charlie lights up Nick's world and I am in love with this shot! One of my fave things in the whole series in the use of colour, we get a lot of blue and yellow in s1 and a lot of it still remains in s2, but, both Nick and Charlie start to wear a lot more green this season and sometimes, their lighting is more green, Nick's walls in his room gradually fade to a more green-blue over the season and Charlie's walls too and the blue in the schools has gone to a more ocean green pretty much from the first scene when Nick comes up behind Charlie in the opening of the form room doorway. Also, something else I saw that got me, but is from Episode 7, that when the rainbow ocean wave laps at Ben's feet, outside Lambert and he turns away, is a direct parallel to Nick running into the ocean to declare him and Charlie boyfriends at the end of s1. Heartstopper needs to stop STOPPING MY HEART!

Olivia

i would like to hear your thoughts on the comparison between ben and darcy in the sense that ben says ‘my parents would never accept who i am’ as some kind of justification for the things he does and the way he acts yet darcy is in a very similar family situation as she says ‘im not even out to my parents i dont think i ever will be’ and she never once is anything other than kind, loving or supportive towards tara or anyone of her friends

Leila Davis-Middleton

god, i think people forget just how young charlie was when the bullying and his mental health decline started. i know it slips my own mind sometimes too. no 13 year old should have to go through that, and it sucks bc you know there are probably so many young teens going through the exact same thing right now :(

A response to the last question: Charlie and Darcy are still struggling about hiding something they feel is shameful. With Charlie it’s ED, with Darcy it’s her screwed up home life. So each is keenly aware of how imperfect their life is, and they overcompensate by trying to make things “perfect” for the one they love. [Aside: Every time I read or write “ED” it’s like going over a speedbump. I’m in my sixties, and my instant reaction to seeing “ED” is not “Eating Disorder,” but “Erectile Dysfunction.”]
