Yeah when the prison world was created, it just made an exact copy of the real word at that moment in time. So everything that existed in the real world then, exists in the prison world. Kai didn't know about Jo putting her magic in the dagger until he saw Bonnie do the same with Miss Cuddles, and he also didn't know that he could do the spell on his own with just using her blood. Had she never been sent there, he really would have never had the opportunity to get out because he wouldn't have access to Bennet blood. And it does not count as merging for him to syphon Jo's magic from the knife, because the merge isn't just about magic. It is better explained in later episodes so I won't spoil anything. But man, this was a great episode. As soon as it started I was excited because I love these episodes that are just a big lore dump

As Kitty said, the world is full of magical things magical places, it would have been impossible to duplicate the world as it was in that moment and eliminate every single thing that is magic from the entire world. Whatever is here is there too. So two copy of the knives and two copy of the ascendant one in every each world.

Stefan said to Damon and Alaric that he doesn't see Caroline in that way, but he start to consider the idea, the possibility like he never did before. By the way I love the dynamic of the brothers and Alaric, he is like a third brother now and the banter agaist Stefan with the bear was hilarious. Elena finally realise that her life is complicated to bring in it a total stranger she has very little in common with and that she is avoiding her real life. She didn't fell in love with Damon out of external circumstancesm she fell in love with him because he fit her preerences, her life, the way she is, what she likes, what she espect from a partner, he match her passion, her intensity, her recklesness, her sense of humour, her zest for life. All of this hasn't been compelled away, so the more she stay close to him the more she feels those feelings again, Damon is her match on any point of view, she can't pretend to be someone else, she can go in circles in a sea of possibilities trying to decide which direction she would like to choose to be happy. So is the direction she would choose is the one she would have chosen anyway? And that is an interesting take on who we are, the choices we make in life and how that effect the directions we take. Even if we forget the experiences we made as adults, as Elena did, but we are already shaped in a certian way, knowing what make us happy, would that alone lead us in the same direction anyway?
