If there's something about this episode that I think is amazing, it's that Bonnie entrusted Damon with the cure, and she could have delivered it directly to Elena, it shows how big is the connection she and Damon created

I think knowing about the cure makes that little look Damon gave Elena when she talked about "forever" make more sense. It also adds more context to the discussion between Kai/Elena/Damon earlier about human Elena loving Stefan and vampire Elena loving Damon.

This episode makes my heart cry out every time Damon says: "These Freaks may be your Family but Stefan Salvatore is mine". The brothers need and love each other so much. I love that. Elena is so sweet and cute in this episode. How she tries to make a good impression on mum Salvatore and how understanding and tender she is with Damon. It's great to see how loving they are with each other. I feel sorry for Caroline and Stefan. Sleeping together for the first time when the switch is flipped is awful. Well and then Mum Salvatore is here and I hate her already.

The story of the Salvatore family start to unravel even, more. We learned that Lilly didn't die of consumption, but she was turned into a vampire, and she did come back to visit Stefan, not Damon, but discovered as a young vampire that her blood lust could be dangerous for her children and left. Good thing, right? But after that, she had 40 plus years to reconnect with her sons and she didn't. Why? Her disdain for Giuseppe at the news that Stefans kill him imply that she was glad to leave her husband behind. And that must be the reason she probably left and never look back, especially knowing that Giuseppe is a vampire hater. The point is that she never ever tried to reconnect with her children, couldn't care less if she left behind teenager Damon being in charge of child Stefan, agaist a father that is that much monsteous to personally shoot down his own children out of shame for their life choices. She even went so far to tell to Damon's face, that the people she met after, that are trapped with her in one of the Gemini prison world are her family, showing crass insensitivity, for Damon's feelings. Damon schocked response is heartbreaking. He is surrely Stefan's family, he has been his only caring, loving family since she left them behind. Lilly don't seam to be a caring mother with her sons.
