It's because it will be a distraction for him. If they tell him his mom is there in the underworld Percy will only focus on that. In their minds saving the world and the fate of the world is the most important and should be his #1 priority not saving his mom. Plus there is also a deadline ( week deadline) so yeah he really needs no distractions because if a war breaks out between the gods that would mean almost an equivalent to World War 2 so it's very important. As for why Zeus expects Percy, the reason for that is the beginning of the episode they stated that demigods can do things for gods that gods can't do for themselves. Stealing the master bolt is one of them and Poseidon just claimed a forbidden child and Poseidon is also very jealous of Zeus meaning he could have gotten his child to steal the master bolt from Zeus because he can't do it himself.

The 12 Olymians, those with cabins are the "major" Greek gods. So we've obviously got the big 3, Zeus, Poseidon, Hades. Then we've got Ares, Athena, the twins Artemis and Apollo, Demeter, Hermes, Aphrodite, Hephaestus, and finally Hera.

In the book, when Poseidon claims Percy, Annabeth is actually very irritated/disappointed, and says she thought it would be Zeus. This is because of the rivalry between Athena and Poseidon, she didn't want to go on a quest with Poseidon's son. The cloven council is a council of Satyrs. They are the ones who assign Satyrs as protectors and judge whether they did their job well or not. They do more, but I'm not including it because of spoilers. The gods that have cabins are all of the ones listed in the comment you're referring to on your last video, EXCEPT Hades. It's the 12 Olympians that have thrones on Olympus. So it's Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Demeter, Ares, Apollo, Athena, Artemis, Hephaestus, Aphrodite, Hermes, and Dionysus. Cabins that are empty are Zeus, Poseidon (until now), Hera, and Artemis. Hera's is empty because she is the goddess of marriage and doesn't like infidelity, even though Zeus, her husband, is the worst at being faithful. Artemis' is empty because she is the virgin goddess and therefore doesn't have kids. Both of them have cabins though because it would be considered an insult not to include them

Thank you for these explanations!! I was thinking Zeus was just full on paranoid but that makes a lot more sense now

Ahhhh okay so the books actually explored that connection between their parents. I thought they were all Satyrs but I didn't wanna assume so thank you for clarifying. Also thats so fucking cool that they have cabins out of respect even with no children but my god, not her being faithful to a T when he out here having loads of kids 😭

Hades does noch have a Cabin at Camp Halfblood at this point. The one you forgot is Dionysus.

The Olympian gods are not the most logical of not-people. I think that's why they are so intriguing is that they are all depicted as fundamentally flawed -- tons of power, but not all-seeing or all-good. So Zeus is the king of the Gods, but he's paranoid with a bad temper and doesn't think things through. I don't think it really matters to him if Poseidon/Percy took the bolt, so much as that, by putting forth this ultimatum, it increases his chances of getting it back.

Percy was the one who did the toilets, not Poseidon, same as the fountain. He's got some serious power under pressure.

Sorry for spamming with such a long comment, but as far as you mentioning the adhd/dyslexia representation and how much it means for young fans, I have a deeper connection to it now as a 23 year old than I did 12 years ago when I first read it. I'm not dyslexic, but I was diagnosed with adhd when I was 10, so it was nice to see something that was a struggle for me be painted with a more positive spin on it. It wasn't until my adult years that I realized I was autistic, and revisiting the world through the show has given me an even stronger relation to it and to Percy. I grew up wondering why I was so different, wondering what was wrong with me. I blamed myself, thinking it was just me being weird. Then I find out that not only can I put a name to it, but there's a whole community that experiences the same things. It wasn't my fault that my brain just works differently than others. I know the book wasn't written with autism in mind, but the fact that the story resonates with groups outside of the ones that were written into it is telling of just how important it is for young audiences.
