Unpopular opinion but I really enjoyed the episode lol

Google Drive Tip: It takes time for Google Drive to process videos. If it says "still processing" or is only allowing you to view at 360p, then you can always come back later or download the video in full

Dropbox Tip: The quality of the video is lower while streaming so I recommend downloading or using google drive if thats an issue

I'm in an almost similar boat with you, except I haven't rewatched any season of the Original cartoon in quite some time (last time I gave it all a proper watch was 2018), I'm definitely familiar with how the story plays out and it's characters but not to the point where I could recall how every scene plays out so if there were changes to scenes I definitely didn't notice it at first (like I forgot there was a scene of Gran Gran sending them off but you didn't haha #sorrygrangran). When I heard about this show being announced I knew I was gonna watch it so I intentionally didn't wanna give myself a refresher of the original because I thought it would probably be easier to enjoy this if I wasn't thinking about the original cartoon too much and making those comparisons and it definitely Paid off I loved the heck out of this show and was really able to see it as it's own thing. Can't wait to continue watching your reactions to it!!

I think they made several smart changes with Episode 1 of this show, including actually showing the defeat of the airbenders. I think one of the most major things I noticed is Aang is more serious and wiser. That's not to say he couldn't be those things in the animated version, but he actually breaks himself out of the Avatar state in this versus Katara talking him out of it. Also, his crush on Katara seems absent so far.
