Mado, this is a fascinating film with a fascinating history. The original drafts and idea came from Stanley Kubrick (2001: A Space Odyssey), who before he died turned the project over to his friend Steven Spielberg... which is why it may not feel as much like a Spielberg film as his others. When I first saw it in the theater I was deeply disappointed in the ending... I almost yelled out "no!" to the movie screen when the "Blue Fairy" appears. I thought, what the hell are aliens doing in this movie? Then after reading several reviews and articles about the film, I came to realize that these were not aliens but very advanced mechas -- essentially, robots were the only "life" left on earth, which in essence removes the quotes from the word life... that knowledge changed the whole film for me on rewatching it and it's now a favorite of mine. David is now, at the end, more human than the advanced robots, so in essence David got his wish of being a real boy. It only took 2,000 years to reach that. So, like 2001: A Space Odyssey the ending is widely misunderstood and confusing but benefits upon repeated viewings. But unlike 2001, the movie has a warm heart reflected in its cinematography and especially the John Williams score, which is one of my underrated favorites of his. The whole thing is like a haunting dream and really benefits from rewatches. Thank you for this reaction!

I like your analysis! I actually thought they’re aliens especially because they look like the traditional aliens lol I have not seen Space Odyssey but I’d love to react to it, i’ve heard a lot about it

I would love to watch your full reaction to that one. The movie scared the s*** out of me as a kid and now I consider it probably my favorite movie, next to the Wizard of Oz!
