Hello patrons, I’m thinking about making a change to my Patreon. I'm thinking about eliminating any artwork available here older than 4 weeks. When I post a new piece of art, the oldest piece will go away. Meaning that at any time, only 4 pieces of art are on Patreon. My plan going forward is to post a piece every Monday. If I don’t have a new piece of art to post, I will post an older piece. Therefore keeping the rotation of 4 pieces of art per month.

I’m making this change because I don’t think it’s fair to those of you who have been my patrons for months and months whereas someone becoming a new patron getting all of the same art. If you have any question or concerns, I am open to hearing them. Please let me know what you think of this.

Thank you for your time,

—Rook

You might also be able to set up levels. Certain levels are everything but lower levels only see the most recent 4. Just another option.

I really don't begrudge a newcomer getting The Full Rook In The Face while I lucked out being available from Day One. If you want to do the rotation, fine. If you don't, I'm good. It's all how comfortable you are in doing the work.

Well, one of the problems I'm having now is that Patreon doesn't make looking at all of my posts easy. I have to keep scrolling down and clicking "show more". So it's getting more and more difficult for me to know what is even on here. I've thought about posting older works for when I get behind. But I don't want to double post. I do realize that by only posting four at a time means that I won't know when I double post, I might have to come up with a system for that...

Maybe, I'll try and see what you are talking about. Patreon isn't very intuitive.

Time to voice the unpopular opinion, I suppose? I totally get where you're coming from, and why it is "unfair" that new patrons (or members of a site) get everything. However, it's more than just a matter of getting access to content. Ever see games that were subscription based, then became free to play? While it sorta seems annoying that you've been paying £7/month for that game for a year and now people play it for free, you also get to know the game survived long enough and was successful enough it could change models *because* you were paying into it. You're the long term supporters and have been involved for that long. I don't think things should be about begrudging content to those who showed up late to the party (after all, who said these newcomers won't stay for the long haul as well, given the chance?). If you're worried about long-term/higher tier Patrons not getting as much for their long-term patronage as newcomers, rather than creating limited edition access, why not find a way to reward those who have been around longer? Additional roles on Discord or private streaming sesh etc?

As a subscriber that just joined, I am very glad that you did not implement this policy. The presence of a significant backlog of material is one of the criteria I use when deciding where to subscribe. While I understand the argument that new subscribers didn't pay for the old content, the backlog helps show the artist's commitment to the Patreon and helps ensure me that I am going to get my money's worth.

Wow, I posted this 2 years ago. I'm happy that you are a happy subscriber. It was just too much work to try and manage this Patreon page. I struggle with having enough time just to draw and post, let alone going through it and deleting stuff. I hope you stay subscribed, I have more to show you!
