yeah renir really is incredibly insensitive - basically 0 social graces and i think he never really learned how to empathize with others and his relative power and wealth basically meant that he rarely had to deal with societal rules feels somewhat like a mix of excessive privlege with some neuro-spicy coded behaviour (especially the hyperfocus on magic) but i might be projecting that onto him
