Noah stared at the patches of Beyond riddling his soul for an indeterminate amount of time. That was just about all he could do. The more he thought about it, the more it made sense. So much of his soul was composed of chunks of the Beyond that it was little surprise that it didn’t view him as some kind of invasive foreign body.

And if that were the case… then it wasn’t going to go attacking anyone that didn’t try to mess with it. The Citadel was theoretically safe.

So long as nobody tried to make a rune out of the Beyond, it theoretically didn’t pose a threat. The only way it seemed to attack was when someone tried to draw it into their soul in a way that would attempt to change the Beyond. And, when the entirety of the Beyond was somehow present wherever even a scrap of its power existed, challenging it was a very bad idea.

If I’m right, that means the only way you could conceivably create a Rune that truly controls the Beyond is when you are so powerful that you can actually go up against all of the Beyond at once. The Researchers sure as hell weren’t that strong. I guess even a Rank 8 isn’t capable of everything.

That meant Noah was probably safe. He had no plans of trying to control the Beyond. He wasn’t sure how one would even classify the relationship they now had. He supposed it was something akin to symbiotic… though there was a chance he was just a very fortunate parasite that had managed to sneak its way into co-existence.

The Beyond wasn’t conscious. No more than a virus, at least. He was pretty certain of that. It was just an energy — a natural force of anti-existence. That meant it wasn’t going to care about how he directed its energy so long as he didn’t go and try to change it.

So… the Citadel was theoretically safe.

But I can’t go basing everyone’s safety on a theory. I have to make sure. There can’t be risks here. I will not lose somebody I care about because I couldn’t be bothered to confirm that this place isn’t a deathtrap.

Noah blew out a breath. He slipped out from his soul and returned to the real world. It was no surprise to him when he saw that the Heart was no longer active. The Devourer curled around the floating platform, its many eyes watching him with a mixture of curiosity and boredom.

“What was so important that you sought to speak with the Heart for just a few more minutes?” the Devourer asked. “It was a hasty deal.”

“I had to figure something out,” Noah replied. “And I was impatient.”

“Was it worth it?” the Devourer asked curiously. It clicked its mandibles and coiled closer to the platform to peer at Noah.

“Yes,” Noah replied. He rose to his feet and brushed the dust off his backside. “I got what I wanted. But you’re not going to like this. I have bad news.”

The Devourer’s many eyes blinked. “What?”

“The Citadel is in danger,” Noah replied. “That Beyond you’re concerned about? Well… I have reason to believe it hasn’t been dealt with. It’s still here.”

With a hiss, the Devourer pulled away from Noah. “Do not speak of it. The Beyond is not to be interfered with. It poses too great a risk to ever dare attempting to — hold. It is here? Still? Impossible.”

“No,” Noah said. “It’s very much here. Let’s be honest with each other, Devourer. I have no desire to destroy the Citadel. There are a great number of ways I can put it to use. But that isn’t the case if the Beyond is going to destroy it. The Heart gave me answers, but it wasn’t there at the end. It wasn’t watching when the Researchers all fell to their own creation. But you know who was?”

“Stop,” the Devourer hissed. “Do not speak of—”

“You were there,” Noah said. “The Devourer was there. I am not going to repeat the mistakes the Researchers made. But if you don’t help me, if you don’t tell me just what those mistakes were, then I can’t avoid everything. The Beyond is here. Whether you like it or not, it is here. So either you help me… or I go digging for that buried book.”

The Devourer let out another angry hiss. The walls all around Noah came alive as its body layered over itself in a thunderous crash of chitinous legs. Furious red eyes bore down on him, but he didn’t so much as flinch.

Noah just held the massive monster’s gaze.

“I will not help you summon the Beyond,” the Devourer said.

“I don’t want to summon it,” Noah said. “I want to make sure it doesn’t get anywhere I don’t want it. I want to ensure the Citadel is safe. And for me to do that, I need to know what happened to the Researchers.”

And I don’t need to summon anything at all. The Beyond is already inside me.

The Devourer stared at Noah for several seconds. At the back of the platform, Prayer chittered in fear, barely audible over the noise echoing through the air all around them.

Then, slowly, the room grew quite again. The Devourer stopped moving. Its eyes narrowed.

“One question,” Noah said. “Answer one question. That’s all I need.”

“Ask,” the Devourer finally said.

“I know you ate the Researchers. It was to stop the Beyond from spreading, right?” Noah asked. “How did you stop it? Their souls were infected. Why were you spared?”

Bit more than one question, but it’s related enough to count.

“I did not absorb their runes,” the Devourer replied. It seemed slightly mollified that Noah’s question really was about stopping the Beyond rather than claiming its power. “I merely took in their energy. Their runes dissipated, returning to pure energy and merging back with the universe. When they ceased to exist, the Beyond returned to where it belonged.”

Noah smiled. He’d been pretty sure that was the case — but having confirmation proved his theory even further. The Beyond was limited to the runes it had been drawn into. If the Devourer had literally eaten things infected with the Beyond but had suffered no ill effects as a result.

That meant it wasn’t literally the presence of the Beyond that corrupted things. Just like how he had existed within the white void for months, the Beyond didn’t care at all about its surroundings.

It only cared about how it was used.

“You weren’t specifically built to consume the Beyond, were you?” Noah asked.

“No,” the Devourer replied. Its eyes narrowed further still. “I was not. And that was more than one question.”

“I’m trying to help both of us here,” Noah replied. “Would you prefer that I not be thorough and leave the Beyond a way to return to this place?”

The Devourer stared at Noah silently. It was difficult to tell what the monster was thinking, but Noah’s mind was too preoccupied with his own thoughts to worry about those of the Devourer.

This is what I needed. It proves that the Beyond does actually need to be drawn upon or otherwise drawn into your soul to become a threat. That’s why the passages still work. That’s why the Devourer and I were both able to survive our interactions with it.

If that’s true… the Citadel is relatively safe. It’s no more dangerous than anywhere else in the world, at least. So long as everyone knows what they’re getting into, this place will work. I can gather my students again— after some tests to make sure that my theory is 100% correct and after confirming the Beyond pathways that lead in and out of the Citadel can be used without corrupting or killing whoever passes through them. Just because the Researchers thought they were dangerous doesn’t mean they really were.

“Right,” Noah said, blowing out a short breath and giving the Devourer a sharp nod. “Thank you. That’s what I needed to know for now.”

“It is?” The Devourer blinked. Then it inclined its head. “Good. Do not delve into the Beyond.”

Bit too late for that.

But there’s one more thing I need to do before I just go wandering out into the world. Even ignoring the fact I don’t have the damn faintest clue where anyone is… this place isn’t Arbalest. I can’t afford to run around with just a single Rank 5 rune, no matter how powerful Unraveling Disruption is.

I’ve got both Astral Ruin and Concentrated Singularity. Haven’t used them much yet, but they’re both powerful… and the Citadel has the perfect place to train. Not forever, though. I don’t know where the others are or how they’re doing. That said, I don’t want to rush ahead and end up being useless against a powerful enemy.

“Say,” Noah said. He looked up to the Devourer. “Does the Citadel have some kind of rune storage? I haven’t seen any just sitting around anywhere.”

“No,” the Devourer replied. “Such things were taken by the Researchers or destroyed due to corruption by the Beyond. All that remains are records.”

Well, that sucks. Suppose it does make the path before me easier, though.

“Right. Thank you,” Noah said. “That makes things simple. One week.”

The Devourer tilted its body to the side. “I do not understand.”

“The initial push of inspiration and effort is often the biggest jump,” Noah replied with a smile. “For one week, I will be training as hard as I can at Access Point 4. I will also need your help with decoding some old manuscripts I found.”

“What happens at the conclusion of the week?” the Devourer asked.

“I head out on a little trip,” Noah replied with a cold smile. “It’s about time I take a look around Obsidia. And, when I return… I’ll be livening this grungy old place up.”

Author's Note: Howdy all! So, question for you. Runebound is at 50 backlog chapters, which is the amount I want it to be at.

However... well, I'm still writing. Even on break. I don't know how to stop. And that means, by writing past 50 chapters ahead, I now have patreon backlog. But it doesn't really do much of anything just sitting around in wait -- so there are two options for you all. I figure I know what you'll say, but I'll ask anyways.

Would you prefer I just upload my backlog chapters as I write them, so the patreon has like 55 or whatever number of extra chapters I write on it, and then when the day comes where I want to skip a chap for whatever reason, I just don't upload on that day (AKA you get the backlog early, but when I miss a day or something, there won't be a make-up because it's still more than 50 chapters ahead)

OR

Would you prefer a more consistent schedule where I just store my backlog privately and you basically never even realize if I miss a day since I've got it stored in wait?

It's no different to me since either way the chapters will be published, it's basically just do you want them now and then have to be sad when I cash them in and don't upload, or would you prefer just pretty much guaranteed daily chapters even on days when I get sick and no extra chaps now.

Let me know!

FEAST! FEAST! FEAST! FEAST! Future missed chapters are a problem for Future Me, and honestly, what has that jerk ever done for me! Screw em!

s476

Extra chapterssssssssaaa

DJ Johnson

I rather guaranteed chapters. So the latter. Also im happy that Noah is gona focus on training even if its just a week!

Nyroe

Actus, you are asking junkies whether they want scheduled small hits or to take all the drugs right now. I wanna read 50 more chapters!

Anakin Mas

i would prefer the second option

Ben Riker

Keep your secrets. Leave yourself some buffers. That way you dont stress and we dont miss a thing.

Lizy Flore

CONGRATS ON THE 800TH CHAPTER!! 🥳🥳🥳

Gwydion

I would prefer consistency

Boss Man

I’m somewhat of a greedy bastard. I love a good bulk chapter drop.

Chris Welsh

I’d rather you smooth over the backlog behind the scenes than dump them out inconsistently. Smooth release pacing gives me something to look forward to every day… it’s the highlight of my day…

Archer

Congratulations on 800 chapters!

Arnon Parenti

I would rather if you used the backlog for surprise events like holiday doubles or weekend delights or even just publish an hour after a big cliff so you don't keep us gaping for a whole weekend.

Jet

A good bunch of chapters for the true obsidia intro would be very cool.

Pokemod97

Current me wants to read a bunch at once. Future me will regret it.

RIEDLHAUS

UPLOAD ALL BACKLOGSSSSSSSS

Lizy Flore

I personally rather prefer a stable release schedule… but I’m always down for extra chappies. I’ll be happy with whichever.

Willshaper

I'd prefer guaranteed chapters, keep the ones above 50 as a buffer for when you dont have time to write the new release, and just use that buffer instead.

CJB

I want more dr- I mean chapters

Sean Dustman

I'm a fan of the daily check ins, a future gap might make me lose the thread

Bound

I think having a private backlog to upload to patreon when something happens keeps your uploads consistent and leaves you with less of a headache whenever some emergency happens. I'd also prefer consistency over a chapter dump.

Sam Hayman

Now now now drop them as you go I’ve finally caught up only for a break to be made it’s good stuff and I need that reunion asap :)

Bob

Consistent chapters please

Chance K

To binge is to live.

Archer

More consistent please :)

Rodserahem

Yeah I am 100% with Nyroe. I need my fix. When I found out about Carl it thanks to you mentioning the comic i was literally consumed by it for every waking second until I hit the current latest status. More chapters!!

Lukas

Of course, I want to read as much as possible now, but I rather go with the consistent chapters.

Khalydor

It pains me to say but my vote is for consistency, even though I would absolutely love to read the next few chapters.

DrSubterfuge

Bank em. Probably fewer overall days of not having a chappie because less stress for you

Raymond Thata

What I need: consistency. WHAT I WANT: GIMME GIMME GIMME

Maksim Shuhman

Too complicated, I don't know! I want some Obsidia intro... Just upload only part of your backlog?

Caleb Reusser

I prefer the consistency with the occasional bonus chapter to get us past a weekend cliff hanger.

Phasmatic7

I vote for stable chapters over extra chapters

Patrick

Consistency please.

Gernot Bahle

Consistency please 😃

jamie

I think it comes down to what suits you more, a pre patreon backlog means you can’t get the instant feedback from people on here. If that feedback is very helpful for you then post as written, if it’s not as key then keep a pre patreon backlog, knowing the time I will get your chapters every day is nice. However what’s more important is what’s best for you and the story.

Ray

I think consistency so it’s easier on you

Prospector of Sagas

Congrats on 800!!! I think it's better for everyone involved if you can take days off and we get a chapter from the backlog instead. I wish everyone could live their life and have a job not just live to work I wish only the best for you and everybody deserves days off. Purely from a business standpoint you worry a lot about people getting refunded when u can't churn out chapters daily and having the backlog is better for your business. I'll be happy whichever way you decide.

TreeReader

Consistent chapters is my preference. I would say get eventually to 2 weeks ahead them ypu can take a nice vacation now and then and after your done you can get your backlog up again haha

Kyle Harrington

Consistency over bulk. I look forward to my daily lunchtime dose. East coast USA here.

Daniel Smith

Consistency for sure, I always look forward to the halfway point of my workday to take a break and read runebound.

ReadAthon45

Congrats on 800 chapters

Erik Zimmerman

I would say bank them for future off days. Obviously I want to read more, but it's probably better for everyone involved that way

Alexey Bondarchuk

It’s a real torture to wait new chapters, ESPECIALLY over the weekends. But it’s more frustrating if you miss chapter during Mon-Fri. So, give yourself a gap for chill, rest and own time for yourself. Right now I’m waiting 19:00 in Ukraine to get a new chapter. I wish to read all story, but after it will finish - I’ll cry. So, do not give all of them immediately. You could drop extra as a SUPADUPA bonus on Saturday from time to time if you have over 50 chapters. But I would like to have at least 1 chapter per day. I’m glad that you are 50 chapters ahead. Thank you for your amazing work ❤️

Pantheon

Consistency.

BreezeShaw

I vote for upload backlog as you write!!!!

Andy65pr

Logically for the long term, always having consistent releases seems to be the better choice. I do not want to think with logic, I wants more chapters now! Gimme gimme gimme!!!

Navi

Consistency. If you're 50 ahead, maybe you could release like 10-20 as a burst for a special occasion. But otherwise, the worst feeling is looking for a chapter and not seeing one!

Tom C

TFTC! I prefer it if you upload them as you write because that means that if someone spots something or makes an interesting comment it’s relevant to what is happening at that time. Plus I need chapters asap 🤣👍

Aidan Day

I don't care about consistency and prefer stuff uploaded earlier, personally

The Uub

I like the consistent pace publishing plan. Even if you write frenetically, you just get further ahead. If you decide to go on vacation or something that way you can keep your goal of 50 chapter backlog and just use the extra for that.

Jake King

So. My initial knee-jerk answer is ‘give me more of them drugs’, because I am a junky and need fiction to consume. HOWEVER. I also know that when I end up not having something to read because an author is having a skip day, I wanna be all cranky. (While also realizing authors need breaks too). So my vote is: keep them as backlogs and use them for your skip days. Then you can frolic behind the scenes, without us rabid, frothing patrons from scratching our skin off in withdrawal. Keep the little doses coming instead of letting us gorge ourselves. ;) Also, what are you? Brandon Sanderson? I have several other authors I support, and none of them keep an update schedule on one story as much as you do, let alone -multiple- stories AND Aetheon.

Ethan Maria

Upload normally, but post like 5 chapters at a time on some random Friday when the backlog gets too far past that

YT

Now! All now! Feed my greedy brain!!🤣

Chris

I would prefer that you maintain your buffer and release chapters as you write them. Burnout is a major thing for some authors and having a buffer to fall back on while you figure out a knotted issue in plotting or whatever pops up in your personal life, you can take whatever time you need and fill the buffer back up when you get the flow back. It's a win/win: we get consistent chapters and you get time to decompress.

Ishan Agarwal

Bulk please bulk right now. I want to read everything right now

MysticallMist

ill take 4000 chapters right now please :)

Tom C

Ooh forgot to say. CONGRATULATIONS! 🥳❤️🥳❤️🥳❤️🥳❤️🥳❤️🥳❤️🥳❤️ 800 chapters is a great feat, here’s to the next! 🥳❤️🥳❤️🥳

Eric Sweeney

Many authors who have a LARGE advance section on Patreon have a tendency to flux. They'll get sick and fall behind. Or they'll get inspired and get ahead. As long as you're clear with your customer base (aka us), then I don't see the issue with it.

Tom C

I quite like the idea of stable schedule and then if the backlog grows too much he dumps a load of extra chapters on us. It’s like we get a prize of extra chapters! Dunno if this is a possibility 🧐😅

Tor-Arne Sandstrak

I prefer you use overhead backlog to schedule future releases, being ahead on projects feels fantastic, and you can take breaks every now and then, or experience a life-is-shitty-thing and still be fine. Gives us our weekdaily fix, and gives you peace of mind as well as flexibility. Of course the inner addict is screaming "gimme now, more now, now now now.".. But nobody listens to that crazy fool, right? Right?

James

Having a private backlog for consistency is logically the best idea, but now I know there is a backlog I want to read it to sate my addiction.

Henry Brogdon

The second option. I don't want to blow my proverbial load on reading all 50 at once. The fact that everyday has a chapter is good.

Bob

Lol I'll second..... 4th? that now option. I'll just take the hits when you need'em later.

pavlo

um, if you want to go with the plan of backlog chapters, please make a few spare saves and store them on different pen drives or on few different cloud, please be safe

Unidog C

The 2nd option. I want to never know you where gone

Nyye

Option 2 please

Deepak Aditya

Consistent chapters please! Congratulations on the 800! 🎉🎉

Michelle

I like option 1, but I just keep the page for the collection open in my browser and read whenever a new post hits so burst posting is fine by me !

Mario Schade

Option 3 Let us Patreon enjoy a few extra chapters and store the others with daily releases. So you have 40+ chapters saved and you do not have to tell us anything about evil banks taking your writing time at specific days :D

Xurszi

Option 2 please. Allow yourself time to rest and mental breaks that don't include us being sad adding to the mental weight you already carry.

Anthony Pena

Meet me in the middle go down to like 25 and still have the option to just not upload if you want to. My greed and patience cant decide. Congrats on the 800! Either way I will probably be upgrading my tier shortly to read more of your other works .

Minocho

I am selfish and undisciplined and prefer instant gratification. Option 2 please

tost

Slow and steady (option 2)

Law

Post the backlog! I don’t mind if you miss days.

Robert Sanders

Upload now and ill be ok if you skip later also would be great if you Upload a messaging this is a skipped day

LazyWizard

Option 2, all at once would be nice but one chapter a day is like a little treat to me, I don't want to overeat and feel empty later, sustainability is the way to go 🤓

Erebus

Twoooo

Hunter Stewart

I always read your chapters on my work breaks so having them consistent is more important to me than having them upfront even tho I’d love to binge more content, I’d rather have a guaranteed chapter that I can go read and relax for a few minutes

Eric Vanderburg

Upload as you have them. Skipped days are fine.

Erebus

Consistency is best. Most logical

Wojciech Ryba

Option 1 please. Give me every thing ASAP!

Lee

I would just keep consistency. And skip days just fine. But if it’s a chapter that sounds good together. Maybe a random double chapter is great. But I would prefer you to keep the backlog and post a chapter a day.

Athan Whitehead

Smoke em if you got em. 1 all the way

TheCrazyDuck

Consistency is king!

Kat ly

Option 1 upload them all. Never mad at u for a skip day .

Melody Haren Anderson

I would suggest a middle of 25 extra, then the rest as buffer. I think that 50+ is like... over a month? 25 would keep half a month of room (say, hoping not, you got really sick and needed to covalesce).

Ricky

Not sure how u count the votes but I'll add my vote to second option even though my heart wants option one xD

Hoogleman

Option 2 please! Skip days are rough because you're one of the only people I'm subbed to on here that uploads daily, so missed chapters often leave me with nothing to read for the day, and I'm an insatiable addict.

AlucardFF

Honestly, I’d rather have skipped days here and there in return for a mass release or at least a surge of chapters every now and then. I think that option would be the far more engaging and exciting at this point in Noah’s story tbh. Especially if there’s 50-60 chapters built up. You could always do strategic upload frequency increases at points during the story and limit the backlog to like 20-30 chapters so you have around a month and a half ish worth of chapters to play around with when you’re on vacation, busy, or whatever else you need to do. A big burst of exciting chapters or at least a lot of plot development all at once always feels more compelling than trickling chapters down

AlucardFF

TLDR: sporadic mass releases of chapters built up over the 20-30 mark would be a good way to give people a jolt of excitement while still having back up chapters in reserve in case of emergency.

Stone T

Option 1.

jobe matula

1 1 1 1 A11 Da1

Youtubing Cat

A good sized block of chapters is definitely the way to go in my opinion.

Colin hennessy-barnes

I would dump most of them but still keep a 2 week backlog. In fact I would probably just focus on maintaining a 2 week backlog and dump the excess on the regular.

Sam N

Option 1 pls 🙏

Tucker Longstroth

I would prefer consistent uploads over an extra chapter whenever it’s available. Maybe set a chapter threshold and if you write past it, dump a few surprise chapters on a weekend and blow everyone’s minds

J Bacalan

Option 1 🫶

Liam Bourque

Faster release over consistent release imo.

Darren Deloach

Option 1 In my personal opinion is that I subscribe for chapters as soon as they are written, if I wanted consistency we could just read on RR or wait for the book release

Corben

Option 2; I really appreciate a consistent schedule.

brandon2071

The consistent option 2 is most important to me

Darshar Griffonmane

Option 2 works best cause it would also lessen any pressure on the author. As you say, if you miss a day, we would never know, it would just return to the beyond... tyftc!

Emily Gurnavage

You should make an actual poll for it in my opinion. Should give you a much clearer idea than reading comments. But anyway: I vote for keeping your backlog as a backlog so there are no missed days. I like the consistency of some authors like you, and its always a big bummer on days when I am looking forward to the next chapter and there is some sort of emergency or illness etc on the authors end that causes a delay. Shit happens, I know, but thats why a good backlog is important. So that the consistency we have come to expect remains. Edit: Or find a balance between the 2 like I see one or two others mention. Depends how many extras you have. Like keeping a 2 week backlog so theres no missed days, but anything written past the 2 weeks worth could be random bonus chapters. But consistency is king for me when following all these stories.

human

Option 2

Skitzpop

Option 1, but you could always just release 25 chapters and keep 25 for the backlog!

Ruari Yeen

Or we take advantage of his obvious addiction and get our own fix of those sweet, sweet chapters, knowing that he can't help but write just a little more, just one more hit chapter, really need that hit chapter.

Soma

25 up front the rest a buffer to keep things consistent

Roberto Garcia

I'd prefer to keep the backlog for consistency. But since you tempted your addicts with backlogs a couple of extra chapters would be nice 😅. But realistically the first option of dropping the backlog would probably stress you out and lead to you writing more anyway soo. Keep that write-life balance man!

Justin Lucier

While my impatience says option 1, my empathy says option 2. Option 2 affords you more random breaks any day you need them, which will make sure the story we read won't suffer... But I want to read more...

Raymond Whitehead

I like the consistent option because it sounds better for you

Evan Burns

Immediately!!!!!!!??????!!!!!!!

Robert Johansson

Option 2 I don't want to read another weekend away if it would of came while the Wandering Inn was still on break I'd love it.

Guilherme Paschoaletto

Personally, I prefer the first option. A lot of people are not understanding that it's likely going to be about 3 to 10 chapters, as 50 is the number compared to RR. As someone else said, I don't mind random pauses when you're sick or have other stuff to do, if I wanted consistency I'd wait for book release.

Michael Terenzio

We would love the the slow burn so we don’t miss a day

hmDrake

I'd prefer option 1. If you have to miss a day, thats fine, but surprise chapters are a really fun treat.

Ted Wallace

I vote Option 2. I hate when stuff happens and you can't get a chapter out. Option 2 allows you to have a life without ruining mine :)

Willem

Idm either way, as long as you don't burn yourself out. But 50 chapters does sound like a nice binge.

Shaineo

I just wanna know what happens so option 1 but I have a feeling i’ll regret that choice when the day comes a chapter is missed soooo 🤷🏽‍♂️

Enif

Option 2 for sure. It is less pressure on you in the moment and gives us a more consistent release pace.

Chris

I would say, keep a couple of chapters backlog for consistency and piece of mind. If you find that your backlog grows more and more, you could just release a Double-Charter when it makes sense for the story, or add a bonus chapter on Sunday or Monday.

Muzzlepatch

Upload upload 😜

Ben Bass

TFTC! Congrats on 800 on Runebound! I think I would prefer the consistence of the posting, as if you were to post them all, I would binge them anyway. :). I love how Noah has the Beyond in him already, I do wonder at what point he will try to make his own Beyond Rune, I mean he already is a part of the Beyond according to it. In the shrot term I sense a training montage, and then he will leave for Obsidia just in the nick of time for the tournament and to find the kiddos. Plus he now has a base of operations that Jalen can't just pop in and out of. :)

AScifiTrashPanda

I would say option 2, but mainly as long as it help you not be overworked. Make sure to have time for yourself. I am on the edge of my seat for a reunion of the characters.

Firel Dakuraito

Is it possible to make a parallel tier that will give access to the backlog? Having a Patreon experience of daily release is very nice. And being addicted to the story and wanting MOOOOOORE tm is other thing entirely.

jobe matula

stop saying option 2 u horrible horrible people ! 😂

Marvin Santos

I'm down for option 1. I wanna binge.

Adam

Missing a chapter when I expect one is MUCH worse than not getting extra chapters. So option 2.

Richard Davis ll

I WANNA BINGE, your writing is addicting, I can miss a day or two whenever

Awdyr Storm

My guy, save those up, and when you need it, use the backlog to, like, take a break, do nothing for a day, get some IRL stuff done, or whatever.

Douglas Davis

Im all about Option 1. Publish it all and if you take a break later on we will just miss chapters during that time.

sjturner79

Personally id prefer you load as you can, and not worry about the schedule, but it’s up to you

Michael Cooper

Honestly, I think a third option where you post 2 daily in the regular schedule would be better than either to me. I want more. If you posted them all I'd have them finished within the day. But also, I check daily anyway. 2 daily gives you (currently) 5 weeks of daily posts + whatever new you write. Then if you end up catching up to yourself, we go back to 1 daily.

Addanc

Option 2

P D

Option 1 please

Jeff

Personally would back option 1 all the way Although - one possible benefit of maintaining a decent backlog is keeping an option to make some short-term retcons if you ever find you've painted yourself into a corner... or sneaking back and dropping a little extra setup or foreshadowing when you come up with a cool idea at the last second.

Ryan

Option 2 feels like the medicine we need (not want). But most importantly, having that extra backlog for your own mental health days. Don’t want you burning out!

Spontaneo

I prefer option 2 because it gives you room to step back and take a break without interrupting releases. And i thoroughly support you taking time for yourself even if you can't stop your self from coming up with ideas. Burnout is a hell of a thing to deal with.

Govir Drauka

I vote option 2. Consistency.

Erlend Boutin

A chapter a day keeps the doctor away.

Max

Congratulations to 800 released chapters! +All at once :)

i like the option where you keep the backlog in reserve and can post one every day as normal, even on days where you would have missed a day instead! if u post them all at once we can just binge them all at once, which sounds great until those "extenuating circumstances" days actually happen.

option b!

Jsk2003

Option 1, I'm happy to see a new chapter when I see it, I'm not sad when I not see it, I don't expect a schedule for books.

Orion Fritz

I'd prefer a consistant schedule more than an inconsistant one. What I can't see can't hurt me

StarOfTime

Option 2 sounds good, a steady release is amazing! (You could give us an extra chapter now and then if you felt like it) 🙃

Ruskin Iyer

Option 2 is better. It's like having a nice friend for lunch every day. (The friend is not lunch ;) Just in case Lee gets some ideas)

LE TANTER Stéphane

Option 2. This way is easier for you as well as you keep a buffer of chapters for when you cannot write or need a day off

Upload everything NOOOOOOOOOWWWWW I’m hungry

Mastermage167

Keep a backlog always nice to have consistent uploads

A month late, but wow what a split in the comments over this. Choose number 3, my lord! (while holding up two fingers) For real, I feel like option 2 allows you to have skip days when needed without layers of subconscious guilt. Maybe you don't get those, I dunno, but being able to post even when life gets in the way seems better than unexpected gaps, from a reader perspective.

a lil late, but 2 for sure. for me, i prefer a a steady schedule i can count on, so i know when i wanna tune in, and for you, it sounds like a decent way of decreasing burnout. sounds like a win win for me
