Onomatopoeias are words that phonetically imitate the sound they describe, like "meow," "bang," or "buzz". They are used in writing and speech to make descriptions more vivid and engaging. Examples include animal sounds like "oink" and "chirp," actions like "thud" and "slap," and mechanical sounds like "tick-tock" and "beep". And of course "PLAP" and "AHH".
