Wow.
We got a 100% scooby doo movie there at the end.
So much detail. LOL I can't remember half the stuff, so it's a bit over my head.

My understanding is that Loulan put the wound on Master Jinshi's face as a small favor to her mother. (at 19:06 Loulan says, "Mother, this is the best I can do") At the beginning of the scene, Loulan made a point on how her mother hated Jinshi for having a resemblance to the late emperor. The one that dismissed scumbag mom in favor of younger girls. As for WHY she should owe scumbag mom any favors... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ beats me. Whichever way you slice it, her dad got the short end of a stick.

Taihou was the former lady in waiting for lady shenmei when she was in the rear palace. Shenmei was jealous that the late emperor loved to spend his time with taihou and not her. Taihou was abused by the former emperor which resulted in her getting pregnant at the age of 10 and having a daughter. The former emperor denied the allegations that he was the father and so the court accused one of the doctors and threw him and the baby out of the palace. Taihou's punishment was to stay forever trapped in the court. We later see her as the lady that hosts the “scary stories” night. They call her daughter the banished princess. Shishou later took care of the doctor and taihou’s daughter. Once taihou’s daughter grew older shishou marries her, and they had shisui but she goes by suirei now. After his first wife dies he then marries lady shenmei and they have loulan. Suirei’s grandfather is the former emperor which makes jinshi her half cousin I hope this kinda helps explain things!
