Going into this with no knowledge of the DLC; I don't know who Myers was, what she did in canon, or why everybody hates her. So far, from her perspective, every decision has been justified. I just don't understand the hate.

She's a cut-throat businesswoman turned politician who has effectively forced So Mi/'her Songbird' to slowly kill herself by interfacing with the Blackwall for decades on Myers' behalf. You know how Myers keeps thinking about who could possibly have betrayed her? It was actually So Mi who betrayed her to try and escape from her so that So Mi could be free and potentially save her own life from all the things she's been forced to do on Myers' behalf. Hansen broke his deal with So Mi though and outright tries to kill Myers instead of what they agreed on, so So Mi is forced to bring in the player character to save Myers' life.

Honestly don't really like this chapter. the chapter doesn't seem like the result of a tied vote. It looks more like the result of "trust v" wining. We don't get to interact with Reed and all that will happen with myers going behind our back is being able to say "You BRoKe ThE DeAl FiRSt" when we don't give her song bird. Which is less than worthless when she can't do anything in response. Like all she can do is not pay us the other half for the jobs and send some NUSA hit squads later (which she would probably do later anyways for "betraying" her)

This chapter is actually the result of Option 2 'winning', not Option 1. Because you guys tied it, I got to cast the final vote myself and I chose Option 2. The vote was never about whether Myers succeeded at activating Reed or not, it was always about whether or not she tried. From the very beginning of their plans for this arc, it was always V and Alt's intention to sideline Reed and keep Myers from bringing him onboard. If I had her succeed at going behind their back and activate Reed anyways, I would have been handing V and Alt idiot balls because I've shown them both to be way too competent/skilled to let something like that slip past either of them. They were expecting Myers to make this call and they were prepared for it because that's what protagonists of their competency levels do. Now if Option 1 had won, it would have actually blindsided V and Alt to learn Myers was trusting them, much in the same way that V was a little blindsided by Hanako being so submissive to them in the parade. And it would have potentially led to something a little different happening down the line. That all said, don't forget that V is now on the route to being the Power Behind The Throne for Arasaka Corporation through Hanako. And the Arasaka Megacorp is a literal peer entity with NUSA, including having actual treaties with them. So everything happening now between V and Myers and V and So Mi could have ramifications on what happens later on if V ever becomes recognized by Myers as that shadow leader in his own right.

Honestly? Myers being so intentionally blind to even the POSSIBILITY of So Mi being her betrayer continues to amuse me to no end...though I have no doubt that So Mi will be provided the chance to give Myers a BRILLIANT 'This Is Why You Suck" speech when it's revealed that she's been rescued from Dogtown by V but isn't coming "home". And I await it with baited breath 😉

Never played Phantom Liberty but I was one of the people who voted for this outcome. Even without going through the expansion (only seen a few clips off YouTube), just from what little I've seen from how Myers is portrayed here in the story it would have looked very strange for her to just trust V completely. People in power, especially people like her, will always be reticent to give up power - let alone to some random merc who, while having shown himself extremely competent, is also a complete wild card who refuses to play ball the way she wants him to. No way would she take that in stride and go "Heck, guess you win", even if V gave her the magic dicking. All that said, very pleased the attempt didn't go through properly as that would have been very OOC considering V and Alt's competency/foreknowledge. Makes sense they would have seen it coming and taken steps to prevent it. I'm continuing to enjoy this story even though it's currently in unknown territory for me. Something tells me that when I finally get around to playing the expansion, this is the version of events I will prefer given Cyberpunk's "Wrong people, wrong city" rule and all.
