I absolutely adored this episode! The Romeo and Juliet vibes it gives off are just peak Sam and Dean, and I agree with what you said- Jared and Jensen are just phenomenal across the board, no matter what the scene is in this one. I am very biased, as a Sam girl, but to me this is easily one of Sam's best episodes this far. Because of how soft and sweet and innocent Sam usually is, how quiet and nerdy, I feel like Sam often gets underestimated or undervalued, so this episode letting us see how strong Sam is, how resilient, how much of a damn good hunter he is, is really important. Season 11 so far has done a fantastic job with Sam's arc, with reminding us of what all he has gone through (especially with Lucifer, but also with growing from an angry, closed off kid to a calm, collected, open and communicative partner to Dean), and showing us the results of his ugly, difficult, traumatizing journey to become this version of himself. Even mortally wounded, Sam takes down almost an entire pack of werewolves single handedly, crosses miles of wilderness and drives himself to urgent care to take out the last threat to his brother. His determination, will to survive, and devotion to Dean is just so incredible to see get a spotlight, especially since Dean is more often seen as the hero, or gets the spotlight or acknowledgment. And no disrespect to Dean, he is a total badass in his own right, but it is refreshing to see that Dean wasn't the only soldier that John raised. That Sam, despite his nerdiness and bookworm, lore loving, research preferring habits, is just as fast, just as strong, just as skilled. And then with Dean, protective Dean is my absolute favorite so I adore any chance to see him fighting for and worrying over Sammy. After the second half of season 9, and all of season 10, watching him this season revert to almost the same level of dramatic overprotectiveness that we saw in the latter half of season 8 is so heartwarming. Dean is at his best when he is trying to save Sam, even if he is also a theatrical, extreme little shit about it who should probably, as you said, double check certain things before deciding on the most unnecessary course of action possible lol. This episode and Baby are the two episodes this season that I think best represent Sam and Dean (in a season that honestly, in my opinion, is the absolute best representation of the brothers, from writing and directing to the absolutely incredible acting performances by Jared and Jensen). Sam's unending depth of physical, emotional and mental strength and perseverance, and Dean's unbreakable devotion and loyalty to Sam. Both willing to do anything and go to any lengths to protect and save each other. Both way too self-sacrificing for their own goods, and co-dependent as hell, but in the end, badass MOFO's just trying to save the world because that's the family business
