Glad to see that you got your wish that Sam got out of the pickle that he was in. We both hated the hallucinations that he got placed under. I could see it in your eyes how you really hated that. I think I got a bit angrier about it. One area where there was great anger was how we never addressed it again, the rape. And even at the end of the episode, you just shake your head, saying, “No? Not going to get into the rape?”. The writers of this show need professional help. Toni is hateful enough that you miss Metatron. At least there you’d have great stuff from Curtis. She got on both our nerves to an obscene degree. At one point, I even yelled, “Madame, I’ve never hit a woman before!” She exposes how she’s not as clever as she thinks she is. For instance, she mentions a decaying tooth being one of the more effective spots to inflict pain. No, it is not. The nerve is already dying. A live, freshly cut nerve is infinitely more sensitive. Tellingly the other fella doesn’t dispute about her going off the deep end. And on top of it, the bitch has the unmitigated gall to have your mom’s name, as you said. Yeah, I can see how that’d be upsetting. My mom likewise doesn’t get too much in the way of precise representation in film or television with her name. One of the notable, and loveliest examples of when it happens being Fargo with such a wonderful character that is our dear Margie. There is also a fantastic line in the movie Double Indemnity where my mom’s name is used and it’s one of my mom’s favorite lines in anything. Here, Toni having the temerity to rock your mom’s name, I don’t blame you for being angry at that one, Jess. It is sweet to learn that your mom’s name is your middle name. My brother and I have that with my brother’s middle name being my dad’s first name, and I have the same middle name as my dad did. The compromise of not naming either of us a junior name as Dad was vehemently opposed to that. On to the other aspects of the episode. Love that you continue to love the dynamic between Crowley and Rowena. They did make a good effort to take out old Lucy who now has the vessel of Rick Springfield which is interesting. Love Mark selling Crowley being scared yet not showing it much as he stood his ground before he ran. Sucks for Rowena being Lucy’s prisoner. Bringing us to the Mary of it all. Loved that bit of Mary has that mom super hearing as you called it. A trait that is much more prominent when you have a mom that’s a teacher, believe me. We are starting to focus on what I assume will be a throughline throughout the season. How although she has somehow returned, she has still been gone a lifetime. Her boys’ lifetime, which she can’t ever get back. Rather melancholy moment when Dean tells his mom that his father really was never the same after she died. Gets you too how Sam and Dean sort of regress around her. You never really are grown up around your parents. The look on Sam’s face when he sees Mary gets you bad as well. We both like Mary decking Toni. Shame that no one shot her in the leg. I’d have advocated going for the head if information wasn’t needed. The Winchesters are all sorting things out and it should be interesting to see how the plotline progresses. I had a J. Jonah Jameson tea-kettle cackle when Mary said that John was a good father. You also get a laugh at her chiding Dean’s poor table manners. We had the shared reaction to Mary asking if she said things right about the internet, I said, “...Close enough for jazz.” I also appreciated your response to how the boys did have other people important to them. Such as their dad, Bobby. For he is the best. Thanks for the enjoyable reaction, Jess.
