Another great TNG reaction, Jess. I've been looking forward to seeing what you'd think about this one, and it was well worth the wait. Glad to hear you're loving season 4 so far. A long-overdue Bev-centric episode. This is one of those Twilight Zone-type Star Trek episodes. I often think of Remember Me as a metaphor for getting older and losing loved ones year after year. Gates McFadden shows off her impressive acting chops in the best way here. Watching Beverly gradually, systematically solve the mystery, just like you did during the reaction, is so satisfying to watch. That whole scene where she almost confesses to Picard, only for the computer reading his vitals to suddenly cut off in the background, is perfect. The camera angles and music stings add so much to the surreal nature of it all. I just wish we got a few extra scenes with Dalen Quaice. He seemed like a nice, wholesome character. "If there's nothing wrong with me, maybe there's something wrong with the universe." I've borrowed and used that quote many times in the course of my own journeys ever since I first watched this episode many years ago.

Second how this reaction was well worth the wait. There is a slight Twilight Zone undercurrent to this one, which is fine by me. The metaphor of growing old and losing those whom you love is apt. Seeing Jess and Beverly solve the mystery in near perfect unison is a delightful treat. That moment of Beverly almost confesses to Picard, that does make an impression. I just love Gates getting the time to shine with how good she is. More scenes with Dr. Quaice would have been nice. Wholesome is a good way to describe him. This whole thing was filmed so well and has that unnerving feeling to it. That one line, in addition to the line “We will start with the assumption that I am NOT crazy.”, they are quite handy lines to have from time to time.
