No apologies necessary Jess. Rocco's wellbeing always comes first. This episode is basically Star Trek does Inception. I've been looking forward to your reaction to Riker telling Admiral Picard to shut up. It's become one of those cult classic TNG moments. It always feels weird seeing Data wearing a command red uniform. It was nice to see Carolyn McCormick returning as Minuet, even if it was just for a short scene.

Given how you filmed this right after filming the big Abby episode of The Last of Us, which ended with you needing to look after Rocco, same as there, no problem about Rocco snoring, Jess. I confess that there were a few spots where Rocco was a bit vocal, and it did make me ask, “Is he all right?”, and you acknowledged that, which answered my question and concern. Likewise, the apologies for the sniffles, again, the Abby episode, so that’s understandable, and I’m not complaining about the sniffles. Yes, we were in for a weird one today. A bizarre episode. Starting with Riker’s birthday celebrations. I really don’t like people at work making any sort of fuss on my birthday. If I am working on the day, and people offer the sentiment, fine, otherwise, I abhor the work parties. Another downside in this scenario is that the away team has the bellies full of cake, as you put it. I hear you there. I often prefer to keep an empty stomach until the hard part of the day is done. Solid Riker episode that gives Jonathan some good time to shine. They set up the conflict well. You can tell that Riker has aged given the salt in his beard. ...Then again, I’ve already got some salt in the chin of my beard, and I’m thirty-four, so... Picard’s already one handsome devil, and that beard makes him look even more handsome. The reaction you had to Geordi sans visor was about what I expected it would be. Shared thing of you sense that obviously something is up, (not least of which is that there are three more seasons hence,) so you are sort of playing the game trying to figure shit out. LOVE how you called the crew out for not giving Riker even the tiniest warning about having a kid, and it’s great how you rolled your eyes at the bullshit excuse given. I would HATE IT if I were Picard and Riker named his kid after me. Related to that, it is a big red flag that nobody preps Riker for the big sit-down with Tomalak, good to see Andreas again by the way. Nice to see that we had the shared “What am I missing?” in regards to Minuet. I didn’t immediately recall myself, and as I said, I thought much the same as you. They mentioned the past episode, and it fell into place for both of us, you having the rather lovely reaction to that, and I said, “Oh, right, right, right.” Leads to Riker giving voice to things that don’t wash. Chief among them: Thirty-Six Hours later, and Geordi STILL hasn’t finished his work?! Get the FUCK out of here with that COMPLETELY unrealistic HORSESHIT!! You, of course, greatly appreciated Riker observing that himself. The other ABSURDLY unrealistic part of the fantasy is that Picard and Beverly were not together after he left the Enterprise. One thing too if Beverly was with Picard, that would have been a good opportunity to have Diana appear as Dr. Pulaski, and perhaps actually address her leaving, and where she ended up in the real timeline. Obviously, that probably would never have been in the cards, but I would have liked the idea. Sweet how Beverly seemed much the same, good to see Patti Yasutake as Alyssa as well. Loved the reaction to Riker’s big “Shut up!” to Picard. Leads to the first reveal that by itself, is plausible. Then the kid slips giving away that he’s behind it all. The very obvious hiding place seems like a further hint in retrospect. No worries on not catching the slip up with Tomalak’s title. You apologized for being off your game with this episode. To be a broken record, I reiterate, Abby episode, your heart and soul were presumably still mending themselves after that, a fact that you pointed out yourself in the reaction. So, you being off your game, I’ll give you a pass on that one, Jess. And you did have the good catch on the moment that the kid had with the computer, so you were sharper than you’re giving yourself credit for, I feel. Sweet how whilst not right, the kid is treated kindly by the narrative, and Riker holds no ill will. Lead to the nice ending to the episode which now has the great reaction. Thank you for that, Jess, and I hope that the rest of that day afterwards, it was a good day for you and Rocco.

Yeah, Jess needs to take care of Rocco, then that’s what she’s got to do. Riker telling Picard to shut up is hilarious, and Jess did have the good reaction to that. Data, and Geordi and Worf initially, seeing them in the red uniforms is odd some, yes. Nice to see Carolyn as Minuet again. Seems Jess and I didn’t clock that right away, but we did both recall the episode quick, leading it to fall into place, so it all worked out in the end.
