An intense episode for you this week. You saw the bad moon rising, and with that, trouble’s on the way. Yeah, the boys do take a slight backseat in this one, yet they are still fairly prominent. I’m with Dean on Mick’s tardiness. I can hear my dad and his dad having words about that as well, or just really anyone on my dad’s side of the family, tardiness is a big trigger. You do also see Dean’s point of objecting to Mick tagging along, yet you and I also agree that if Mick is wanting to learn and better himself, that’s something you can get behind. If nothing else, give him that, he recognizes his faults and where he needs to grow and improve. I’m on Sam and Mick’s side of they can listen to what they want during the car ride, and I’m on Dean’s side of being annoyed of getting stuck listening to it as that’s why God invented headphones. Figured you’d be irate when Mick dared to besmirch Garth, and funnily enough, we shared more or less the exact same word choice there. They get a nice fancy hotel visit with Dean going nuts about the little shampoos and swiping the fistfuls of mints. Serious question: What is it with everyone that they go nuts over the little hotel shampoos? Am I missing something here? I’m likewise confused about the appeal of the mints, though you chide Dean a little bit there. Yelled “DUDE!!” at Dean when he admitted to swimming in the pool sans trunks. He chides Sam noting that the three stars are wasted on him, which, to be fair, I’d be hearing the same thing as Sam as I don’t, I don’t think I’d go as gaga over the fancy hotel as much as Dean did. We both had a reaction when he refused to give Mick the satisfaction of loving the hotel, I outright asked if he was twelve on that one. Seems we were both justifiably paranoid about Mick and the girl. He also sent up the red flag when he hit the sack early, and he barely had one sip of his beer. To be fair on the latter point, you see him make a face when he does have the sip, which I expected, and I would have said to him, “Uh, Mick? You don’t have to drink the rest of that if you don’t want to.” We both share the aversion to the needles, leading me to say, “Ah! Damn it!” We both loved how Dean clocked how suspicious Mick was. We get the greater showcase how the Brits deal in absolutes with the monsters, further shown here how Mick seems confused by the idea of peaceful werewolves, or ones that don’t want to hurt people, making me yell, “Lon Chaney Jr, Man, this is werewolf 101!!” Love how Dean acknowledges he used to hold the similar mentality when refuting Mick’s logic, and he got us both in the heart when he spoke of Magda, Jesus, that part got me. Likewise, Sam is with Dean saying that they’re fucking done, and we don’t even get Sam’s reaction to learning about the poor girl, just the scene of him making it clear to Mick that they’re done. Things get even dicier when Claire gets in the mix. Love how the boys clock that she’s on the case based on the description. You had such a great mom voice when you saw that Claire was lying to Jody. Loved how you were on Claire’s case on that one. There is probably some truth to Claire’s complaint of Jody having the training wheels, yet we take it with a grain of salt as it is coming from Claire. Tellingly Sam asks if Jody ever actually said certain things. Loved your response to Sam telling her to stop acting like a stupid kid, and it was great your response to Claire calling Sam an “old skeezer”. Sam gets sidetracked by being called a “skeezer”, me, I’m about the age now that Sam was then, or at least Jared was, I’d take exception to the “old” part of the insult. The heart rate gets jacked when Claire gets bit. Love Dean making it clear that Mick is dead if he fucks up. I’d have made Mick call Jody if that happened, then watch as she put a bullet right in the middle of his thick skull. To Mick’s credit, you see him reconsider his stance, and he comes through on helping the boys. You had the great response to learning that the Brits caused this mess in the first place. Shame for the boys that the one jackass wasn’t the werewolf. I got younger cousins, so Dean’s threat to the guy of breaking his face if he touched Claire again, that’s one of the strongest occasions of relating to Dean. And because Mick did help save Claire, the boys give him the one more chance. See how that goes. Ending with that sweet part of Claire calling Jody, and she calls Jody her mother. God, that part hit home. Then there’s the other most important topic: The Downton Abbey of it all. KNEW that Dean’s crack about Downton Abbey would piss you off, I thought of you as soon as I heard the line, saying, “Oh-ho, she’s not going to like that!” Sure enough, you had quite a reaction to that line. You take it as proof that Dean has never seen it. The optimism that he’d love it if he ever saw it is very sweet. I’m still behind on the show myself, and I wouldn’t call it boring. I have seen portions of it; couldn’t exactly talk specifics of what I saw. What I have seen is very good. And even if I haven’t seen it, I know from word of mouth that it has the feel of the Merchant Ivory pictures that I love, The Remains of the Day being my favorite. So, whenever I ever do see the whole thing, I know I’d love it, just as you say Dean would. If he doesn’t, well, then I think he might be dying at your hands, Jess. In any event, thank you for the great reaction.
