You’re welcome for the patience and understanding given to you with the postponement of this reaction so that you could have the lovely time with your best friend. A very interesting penultimate hour for the season indeed. Yes, steadily paced, yet heavy is a fair description for this one. Our protagonists taking a break from the insanity of the season to contend with a personal demon or two. I cannot comment on your hopes for the season finale until after seeing the reaction to said season finale. No worries on the sparse dialogue during the Mile and Maggie team-up. I was of a similar thing of you just take it all in, absorb the phenomenal acting from Željko and Lauren both. It stands to reason that there would be little actual words from you during some of their bigger scenes. You speak well of Maggie’s more often than not worked with noble men like Rick, Daryl, Glenn. Not usually someone as amoral as Mile. The whole dynamic where she relies on someone who’s not Negan yet is very much tied to that old trauma is fascinating to behold. Obviously, as you say, she can’t trust him, yet she has no alternative. And to Mile’s credit, as you noted, he’s reasonably calm and helpful to her, which is oddly heartwarming. You see that Maggie assesses that Mile is not planning to kill her, or else he’d have done so whilst she was unconscious. Loved that part with the traps. Though you say you didn’t need Mile’s narration about heights, the compulsion to jump, and how it may tie into the desire to be reunited with our loved ones long gone, the man does raise an interesting thought. Could see how that got to you some. That one big trap was a jolt. Cracks me up how I imitated Mile, by saying, “I did say “keep still”.”, and no sooner do I say that Mile himself says it, and I bust a gut laughing. Love how you hear Mile say the line, you nod and concede that he did in fact say that. Surprising that you did not make a Lost World comment during the glass scene as that instantly crossed my mind. I have a small thing with heights, and yeah, that scene is stress inducing beyond belief. Loved how Mile had a fatherly energy in talking her through that, then coming through with the ladder. Kudos to him too for the upper body strength with holding that ladder down when the glass broke. Not surprisingly, Mile lied, the question was what he was after, seeing as he was as helpful to Maggie as he was. You then see that he wished to say goodbye to his dearly departed mother. Yeah, we both got hit by the scenes where he talked about his mother. Lord was Željko amazing in that scene. Personal wound gets hit seeing that his mom’s birth year is the same as my dad’s mom. As of this time of year, this week in fact, she’s been gone twenty-three years. I can’t put into words what I felt about Maggie not killing Mile, then Mile quietly keeping Maggie from jumping. And they end up having a very sweet parting of the ways. Then there’s Negan’s efforts to get the medicine for Ginny. That bit with the walker kids was great. The sequence comes complete with a surprise Lucille appearance. “All the wives are showing up.”, like you said. (Albeit not all the Savior wives, I understood what you meant.) Rather like how although Hilarie’s name is in the credits, it’s only moments later that we see Lucille. Then we see her later, Jeffrey and Hilarie doing the most. Gets you further seeing Annie, and her and Negan’s little boy. The vision of Ginny gets you to. Negan has that deeply relatable line of he observed that God keeps giving him second chances, and he has no idea as to why. That’s something that fucks with me a lot as well. Negan also got me right in the heart with his lines of, “It wasn’t enough.” Yeah. Yeah, that line resonated. Not been in the exact situation that Negan was in with his wife. Very soon to be four years since Dad died, that thing of “It wasn’t enough.” is in that feedback loop in my heart and soul. Had suspected Negan’s assertion that he’ll line the enemies up, that would get a reaction from you. I don’t blame you for being nervous on that one. You liken it to Carol, and yeah, I think Negan is facing that grim reality of he can never truly shed his villainous nature. That’d likely be me in a world like this. I could accept that truth that I’m a bad man, so long as I use that truth to keep the other bad men from the ones I love. Now to the mother and son reunion. Yeah, you caught Hershel saying, “Our signal”, key word: “Our”. You were warier than I, as I didn’t think much of it, assuming that the “Our” meant he and Maggie; that story about the firefly. Instead, no, he meant the Dama was there. You and I had similar dramatic reactions to the reveal that somehow, the Dama returned. I first said, “Oh, COME ON!!”, then I said to Hershel, “Boy, I swear to God that I am going to reach through this screen, and I am going to slap you silly!!” Contrast to you who had the big reaction when seeing that somehow, the Dama returned, and I loved your response, “HERSHEL, what the FUCK!?” Now you say that Hershel is testing you, good, I can be frank with certain feelings and words about him. And that’s all I’m going to say before I see the reaction to the finale, which I saw that after a very exhausting day, today followed suit. Your lovely reaction does help the spirits stay afloat, so I thank you for that, Jess. And thank you for the great reaction.
