Yes, Planet of Giants is probably the last 3-parter, there have been odd-number-of-episodes in other seasons though - Troughton's last (2 x 5 eps), Pertwee's first (3 x 7 eps) and second (1 x 5 eps). So presumably they had to be a single-episode reaction - been so long, I can't remember! Hartnell's era also had a single episode story, without the Doctor!
