Considered the Unofficial 25th anniversary special among fans and the Story/themes hold up till this day! As for the implications of this being a first act of the time war - it is one of the first shots fired, Along with the events of Genesis. Plus, there were also tiny hints in the story (which you'll see later on) that were going to lead up to something much bigger with the doctor himself.
