It throws a lot at you this one, it's very dense with a lot of references which fit the theme (Alice in Wonderland, My Fair Lady, Darwinism, experiments etc) and a lot of people struggle with it as a result. But actually at its heart it's not a very complex *story*. I loved it on broadcast and I love it now. It is, however, a story where instead of three parts it could have done with being four. Give it a bit more room to breathe and I think there'd be fewer people baffled by it. (Battlefield I've heard was meant to be three parts and got extended, and however much I also love that story, I think it should have stayed that way, and this one got the longer episode count. But it is what it is!)

To quote the Eleventh Doctor, "This is where I come in..." Part 1 was the first one I saw, aged 3, and I only remembered when I saw it again a few years later. This is a fascinating story, and I'm interested to see what you think of it, overall.
