I've had it with Twitch (RANT) - Kibitz vlog6

Twitch has MESSED UP these last 6 months and I'm beyond frustrated, to the point I'm only going to be streaming 1 day a week now Friday's at 9am PST. This vid's a rant about Twitch's problems and my thoughts as a content creator around it.

Sweet Jesus, you made my mind explode in the last few mins. I never put that together, and you are right, the blueprint is right freaking there!

RIGHT??!?!?!?? OH BUD if I didn't have to stop myself there are SO MANY other things I could've got into, but I was losing it at the end there haha

Damn, this video really hits the major points, and the craziness that is Twitch is why I support you here as well. You mentioned Mixer being shut down, and it's crazy to think that happened June 2020. I could have sworn that it shutting down happened in like 2018/19! The sad part is that they helped people transition to Facebook Gaming, and not Twitch. Why would they send people to Facebook Gaming? Because they hate twitch, of course. Now, you talk about all these problems that twitch has, but what other viable options are there? None of the others have any discovery factor at all, as the last big competitor was Mixer(RIP). The TikTok idea, I don't know if that would have worked, since the appeal of TikTok is largely the non-gaming portion of the site. Anyways, thanks for keeping us informed about the insanity of Twitch. Hopefully I'll catch you later this week! Ninja-edit right as I post: sorry about the long comment lol

I always wondered why some of my favorite youtubers gave up streaming, moved to FB or just limited themselves to the occasional charity Youtube stream. Seems you've cleared up the mystery... Twitch sucks.

Another point I didn't mention was that a lot of Twitch higher ups have been jumping ship recently too. Conveniently, an article was just written about that whole situation: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-03-03/amazon-s-twitch-is-losing-c-suite-people-amid-battle-over-strategy

Streaming on Twitch is fun, but yeah by no means a very good time investment (at least if you have a Youtube channel already)

imkibitz

Exactly this, if people want to make a career streaming Twitch is still 'the place' to do so even though it has so many critical problems. The Twitch Clips thing's success is up in the air, but with all the pieces right there it's just wild they wouldn't try. Hopefully they will in the future. All good with the long comment too, fun to discuss!

Pyrox

Damn, really? Hadn't even noticed. Probably not noticed by many people, unless you're highly involved in the community(A.K.A a streamer.) Thanks for putting this on my radar!

I always thought of Twitch as an inept child, rather than a sinister Amazon tentacle. But, maybe I'm just naïve about the Operations and who's pulling strings on budgets and policies. Or, maybe it's a strange brew of both. In any case, thanks for sharing bud

imkibitz

Spot on, it is a strange brew of both. The Executives are the sinister Amazon tentacle trying to make money while the employees are just running about trying to do the best they can without any real leadership/ direction. Kinda sad honestly, I'd argue most Twitch Staff are really good people.

Kibitz, sorry for all of the troubles you've gone through with Twitch. Love your content. Keep creating. Whatever changes you need to make, MAKE THEM.
