Quick status update (Patreon)

Hey all! Sorry things have been quiet here, I've been hard at work on a new major feature for the game in the form of the companion character. I was hoping it would be done before the holidays, but being that its not an enemy or the player themselves, its required all new code to be built from the ground up to consider its behavior, actions, and more (including pathing and collision since it moves differently than anything else).
Fortunately despite the length of time it has taken, it is now functioning extremely well - I believe I have all the hard coding finished, and all the animations for at least the first type of companion are also in - all that still needs work now are the sound effects, which will take a moment as I'm trying to find/make more new SFX so that I don't have to constantly reuse the same effects already in game.
Unfortunately I ran out of time before holiday travel plans have taken me away from my desk, but I would expect the next beta build to be ready by early to mid January! After I get that build up with the companion, the next update will add another companion type and probably one or two new levels to the game as well.
After that I'll probably update the public version, and put in work for a couple last major updates involving setting up a dialogue system and other things needed for the actual story of the game, plus a mini boss, and THEN I think we will be ready to launch a kickstarter to hurry up and get the meat of the game developed!
