No Squares Shall Enter in the Circle of Winners | Sacred Symbols, Episode 364

Sony's recent PlayStation-centric corporate presentation illustrated just how powerful their gaming vertical is. Indeed, PlayStation 5 has already generated more revenue for the company than PS1, PS2, and PS3 combined, and in the last five years, Sony has netted more in profit from gaming than it did in all 26 prior years the brand has existed, combined. Within their presentation was a lot of interesting data, quotes, anecdotes, and more to comb through, and we do that with a fine-tooth comb. We also wonder why the video presentation was so awkward, stilted, and choreographed. Can these people not speak extemporaneously and off-the-cuff? But we digress! Then, we get into other pertinent news of the week: Bungie's indefinite delay of Marathon, rumors of Sony's potential interest in Warner Bros., fresh PlayStation 5 and 6 handheld rumors, and more. Then, we end the show (as we always do) with listener inquiries. Is Hermen Hulst truly to blame for PlayStation's serious first party woes? When will Ghost Story's Judas launch? Is controller rumble and vibration an important component of our gameplay experiences? Will Colin's 100 hours in PowerWash Simulator translate to the real world? Follow the hosts! Excellent move getting a power washer Colin. You won't regret it. Take things slow. Don't mess with the siding (unless you crank that thing way down and ease into it) and most of all just have fun. I don't own one currently but I find it to give a similar satisfaction to mowing the lawn and weed whacking. Just keep in mind it's mad easy to blast a hole in your siding with that thing. Concrete is much more resilient

As someone that bought a PSP and 2 Vitas brand new I'll be down for buying one portable PS5. While I would be willing to pay upwards of $600 I don't think it makes sense to charge more than $500 depending on the GPU/CPU and functionality. Also I kinda disagree with Colin when it comes to the appeal of handhelds to the PC crowd. The steam deck in particular fits into this much desired slot for PC players that want to sit back and play in bed or on the couch from time to time. Sure having a kick ass PC is a dream but it's also much more difficult to manage long gaming sessions on. This is particularly true when it comes to things like JRPGs or strategy games that often require hours of grinding. The appeal of handhelds of all sorts is something I'm super glad to see the industry capitalizing on. I actually just got ordered my Switch 2 and it should be here by Friday! I'm sure there are limits to how saturated this market can get before companies start really taking serious losses but I'd personally love to see a world where every all the major gaming giants have some sort of handheld in rotation.
