Please welcome storied game designer David Jaffe back to Sacred Symbols+ for another rousing rendition of Moriarty x Jaffe. Today on our typically wide-ranging conversation, me (Colin) and Jaffe get into a ton of different topics. We touch on the Subnautica 2 bonus situation, Hermen Hulst's tumultuous leadership of Sony's first party, whether Roblox will ever turn a profit, why Death Stranding 2 is so much better than the original, what Santa Monica Studio's next title might be, the market potential of Fairgames and Marathon, Helldivers 2's migration to Xbox, and much more. And we end with some ranting about government conspiracies and human powerlessness, so that's fun. Enjoy!

The “Dreams” situation makes more sense to me if instead of comparing that game to modern games like Roblox, you compare it to LittleBigPlanet. Dreams seems like it’s missing a lot of obvious features like the ability to export creations to be sold separately from Dreams, but LittleBigPlanet was awesome, and LittleBigPlanet didn’t have the ability to export either. Dreams should’ve had mouse and keyboard support, but LittleBigPlanet didn’t support mouse and keyboard either. If I look at it from that perspective, Dreams makes way more sense.
