I agree with Gene that metroidvania games should be short. I love them but I get really fatigued by the gameplay loop, so I appreciate when the game doesn’t overstay its welcome. Also disagree with what he said about Super Metroid having great storytelling. This is something I hear all the time. I loved that game but I think it’s a stretch to say that the story is anything but the bare minimum and honestly I ignored it entirely. To be clear I have no issue with that, but I just don’t understand why so many fans of the game insist that it has a great story when I’d say it barely has one at all.
