Holding Out For A Hero | Sacred Symbols, Episode 377

The internet is alight with word that a State of Play (or perhaps even a proper so-called Showcase) is right around the corner, and with it the purported reemergence of Insomniac's Wolverine, first revealed way back in 2021 alongside Spider-Man 2 (which itself came out two years ago). Is our clawed, self-healing, and somewhat short friend about to reemerge from the shadows, perhaps with a 2026 release on PlayStation 5 in tow? We're about to find out, along with -- perhaps! -- confirmation of a Venom title, too (and presumably much more). Plus: Ghost of Yotei and Helldivers 2 find themselves sucked into recent social events, Tencent hits back at Sony over its Horizon-based lawsuit, Borderlands 4 is a technical mess for many (and Randy Pitchford won't shut up about it), Hell Is Us' director calls Silksong's surprise release "callous," and so much more. Then: Listener inquiries! Would we ever attempt something as challenging as a company Top 100 Games of All-Time list? What are some potential launch games for PlayStation 6? How does one display their physical games collection when there isn't enough room for all of it? Is Dustin about to move into the poorhouse? Follow the hosts! I watch a trailer and play a game because I want to play it

Stuart Osborne

Interesting they want to bring in platforms like Reddit, Steam, Discord, and Twitch regarding “online radicalization”, but not platforms like Twitter or Rumble Wonder why that might be

Like I said - you would have lost way more subscriptions by firing Chris. Sticking with him, talking it through and staying the course paid off. Great job guys and I'm really happy your business is doing better. There were some absolute lunatic takes and reactions in the comments for the last show. Glad you didn't listen to them and let them self-destruct out of your subscription ecosystem.

I’m not trying to be funny but I don’t what’s pissing me off more, Chris getting told off for his thoughts and prayers, or tenscent saying they aren’t copying horizon and Sony is in the wrong 😭😭

Aaron

When they came for Chris. I said nothing. Censoring cunt is where I draw the line. I’m going to pretend to cancel my subscription now

Count me among those as 'down' on Spiderman 2. But I was down on it from the beginning. It's a well made game, but a poor Spiderman game. The inclusion of gliding made web-slinging, a defining feature of the character, obsolete. Combined with the gadgets, I felt more like I was playing 'Iron Man lite' than a Spiderman game most of the time. The writing completely misinterpreted the core the Venom character and turned a complex symbiotic relationship into a bog standard parasitic alien invasion storyline.
