Is Cloud Gaming the Future? | Sacred Symbols+, Episode 488

Please welcome Christian Polson-Brown to Sacred+. Christian is the marketing manager of the Australia-based GeForce NOW partner Pentanet, and I (Colin) invited him to the show to discuss his industry and his craft. Here's the thing: I'm not so sure I believe in cloud gaming as the be-all/end-all future for gaming. But as Christian tells it, that's not really what the purveyors of this new way of play are attempting. Rather, the use of cloud gaming could be supplemental, situational, or based simply on convenience, and while it may not take out your console or PC, it'll almost certainly become an ever-larger option that sits alongside them. From subscriptions versus a la carte purchasing and where fallen competitors like OnLive and Stadia got it wrong, to 'the speed of light problem' and the potential ecological damage of gaming via the cloud, we discuss a whole lot in our truncated hour-long conversation. Please enjoy.

Geforce Now has a free option for people to try. I tried it and played Doom Eternal and it worked just fine even on the free option. It does seem like a good option in the future instead of upgrading my hardware.

2 year sub to GFN where I live, it works so well on my steam deck. The new Blackwell architecture is incredible.
