This sentence sounds strange to me. "Even the winter was affecting stocks here in the capital. " Maybe "The winter was affecting stocks even here in the capital" would be better?

Why was the brown sugar more expensive than the more refined sugars? As far as I am aware brown sugar is closer to sugar in the raw than white sugar so the price should be something like Brown

Srsli

Brown sugar is different to the brown in colour raw sugar, but ultimately, its less demand, less supply - keep the prices high

Glad he stood up for himself and that guy is lucky Lily was napping on his bed. She not going to pleased when she hears about this. And the poor king going to have deal with a pissed off Alchemist guild noble.

After all my nitpicking and criticism, I want to give credit where it's due, because this chapter was a great one. Besides, it's easy to criticize something for being bad, it can be harder to praise something for just being good! So here's some points I particularly enjoyed in this chapter. The confrontation with Lord Corin felt genuinely tense Despite Trevor having his powerful backup. The escalation was gradual and believable and Trevor handled it with confidence that actually feels earned at this point. Lord Corin being an alchemist and as such fire-resistant was a really nice detail that made the threat feel real. I loved the power play by using Marcus name as well, even if I'm sure Trevor doesn't exactly know why it was such a power move. The way Crisplet was described shopping, and asking for something of his own was a cute and fitting touch. The haggling scenes was well written, especially using social leverage and basic reasoning to negotiate. It felt much more earned than other times and his surname reveal had actual weight. (But why didn't he buy the other types of salt? He knows Fire Salt has a good effect on his cooking, so ignoring that felt a bit weird. But that's nitpicky at best.) I've never had cause to complain about Liane, as Mentor she's quite useful overall in this chapter. Nice touch with her eating that candy in preparation, and I loved how she clearly didn't want to escalate. All of that without taking the spotlight from the MC, a difficult balance but you made a stellar job with it. I'm sure that Trevor is perfectly right about what he said, but he's probably putting the king in a tough position. I hope you don't trivialize it too much later, because this felt like a perfect chance to add some "social consequences" later on as well. The guards being conflicted was excellent in building tension as well. So excellent work overall with this one!

Well tbh it was only a matter of time till an alchemist tries to find out more. This is not yet over ^^
