Yall, did this video show up in your YouTube feeds? Views are suspiciously low so far, which usually indicates the algorithm gods didn’t put it in anyone’s feed!!! It’s so annoying when this happens and it’s totally random. Let me know!

NYCM&AHole

Steel Panther wrote a whole song about it https://youtu.be/nECac7O4hg8?si=Z9lbFGhetXXfjhmg

Craig Rosen

Watching it today.

Michael Curtis

Yep. It showed up in my YouTube feed. I’m on my way to see Inside Out 2..lol.. but I’m looking forward to checking out this video when I get back. 👍🏼

YogiPritch

Not showing for me. I think they did update their gorithm this week because what’s showing up in my feed is way different.

NYCM&AHole

In all seriousness I need more of this type of practice so I can play stuff like this pedal tone at around 1:51 https://youtu.be/aK1yVohKRAc?si=TW5lTRYQjKzajZZy

Scott.

I've just worked through and memorized the first A minor sequence...I'm crying tears of joy. Or pain. Jury is still out ...I'll get back to you after more coffee.🙂

Can you send my carrier pigeon back? I only have one.

So good! No surprise Bach beat you to the Pinkie workout! Partita in A minor - J.S. Bach BWV 1013, interpreted by Guillaume Vrac https://youtu.be/EJ1OO7GCEqI?si=L4gO-0v5kBgOoVN8

What a great last bit of advice regarding spanning the pinky finger. I use it constantly in my playing but never gave it any thought other than keeping it close to the fretboard. The ease and comfort difference is beyond noticeable. Great lesson as always!

Matt Nelson

I notice the you were using hybrid picking?

Fred Raimondi

I love you Uncle Ben. You always come up with the coolest practice and strength building ideas. Keep up the amazing work.

Chris Swartz

What a great workout, and not just for the little pinky! The first finger get's a great independent workout moving across the strings as well...I also have been using it as an alternate picking exercise, picking all notes rather than hammer ons. And I'll say it again, thanks for sharing in the Guitar Pro format, that's saved me much time from putting it together myself so I can get straight to work! Cheers

Snake

The easiest way for me to play this one is all alternate picking no legato. I do like the legato and hybrid versions, always good to play things will multiple techniques.

BenEllerGuitars

hell yeah! I initially wrote it with all alternate, but then decided adding in the hammer ons makes it a more effective little finger workout.

The musicality of this etude really speaks to me for some reason.. so beautiful! :) As you say, this makes it a million times more fun to work on. I'm not sure I'll be able to nail the entire piece, especially not at speed, but I think I saw a few of the individual arpeggio shapes/licks that would be cool on their own to throw into a minor key soloing situation.. so perhaps I'll just steal a few of those isolated ideas. Thanks!

Stanislav Ossovsky

Dooode!! The music is way-way too freaking awesome to be called just an "exercise". Wonderful, thank you Teacher :)!

Stanislav Ossovsky

Uncle Ben, many thanks once again, I have a question. It is apparently quite lame, but since I am a pianist with quite little guitar skills, hope you will understand. The question is, how exactly do you dampen the strings, which you release, in this particular piece of music? With the right hand, or left? I have tried both ways, but since I am so lame, I am not sure which would be better.

Oh man this one is tough! Excellent addition to my routine. Thanks Ben!
