I have an anchoring issue with my pinky. I also seem to pull the pick from the strings on runs causing me to miss strings. Maybe my anchoring is causing that. Suggestions?

Ben Morris

I don’t suppose there is a similar solution to playing EJ‘s descending fives? I can absolutely see how this reverse technique would work for ASCENDING fives though.

…And if you have a downstroke escape solution for playing “Bark at the Moon” and that type of thing… that would be life-changing for me! I totally understand how it could work using the same principle, but maybe I just need to see someone actually do it well and then my mission would be complete.

… And lastly— great explanation of how crucial the anchor point is. I have an awesome anchor point for my downstroke escape but for the life of me I just can’t create the same feeling with an anchor point for upstroke escape. Would you say it’s really just like scribbling as well, but just anchored differently?

That Ernies Balls guitar is gorgeous

You nailed it brother growing up and doing nothing but down stroking for rhythm really really made it very difficult for me to pull off to way pick slanting . I finally broke the curse, but it took me a long time to reprogram. However, these two note per string runs really give me a run for my money. They are deceivingly difficult. I find them more difficult than three note per string . I’m trying to perfect the 1928 overture solo section where John uses these two note per string Pentatonic as well so this is right on time. Thank you

Derek Ness

Uncle Ben! You got any videos going more in depth on downward pick slant? Thanks brother!!

That is the perfect Music Man Luke! Thanks for the lesson \m/
