I'm so thrilled to start this series and share it with you! When i put out the idea for Our Daily Shred, you all responded so positively that i HAD to do one right away! Thanks for the positive vibes.

In the debut installment of ODS, we're gonna practice a KILLER workout to improve your hand sync! By playing the same licks with picking (RH dominant), legato (LH dominant), and a mix (both hands working together), we can put our hand sync to the TEST! BOTH hands have to have perfect groove for the best synchronization, and workouts like this will make it happen!

Let me know what you all think of the format of this video, and PLEASE let me know changes you'd like to see for future installments. I feel like this series could really help a lot of players, and get some great repeat views for my channel. Everybody wins!

Grab the TAB, practice tracks, Guitar Pro file, and MIDI file below and get after it! Hope you dig it, more coming soon!!

Daniel Shaw

Give us this day, our daily shred!!!

David Montgomery

You’re my FAVORITE uncle 🔥🤘🏻

John LaTour

I will give it a try at my custom step-grandad speed. Thanks Ben.

Shveta Stern

Okay, I just tried round one on half speed; I definitely need to work on my pull offs and also found that it’s much harder for me going back down versus on the way up!

Christopher Henry

Sweet!!! I know what I'm doing after work🤘🤘 thanks Ben!

Diogo Camacho

This was great. Gave me a few ideas. For example, do this over 3 strings: alternate pick on 1 string, legato on the next string, alternate on the next, and the go back. Pretty cool workout, Ben.

Peter B.

Really love this idea, Ben. Mini lessons that we can play along is great.

BenEllerGuitars

ah, excellent! Those kinds of discoveries are just what I was hoping people would find with this workout.

SpaceChimp

Such a great idea. Can't wait to get stuck in. Thanks, Ben!

NYCM&AHole

Thanks, shred-uncle Ben! I was also thinking something similar along the lines of Ritchie Blackmore’s pre-chorus triplet string skipping in man on the silver mountain as another hand sync exercise. That one’s been vexing me but it’s also mainly hand synchronization. Similarly vexing are the fills post first-chorus of nevermore’s the river dragon has come.

NYCM&AHole

Wills yous tries its on a grandpas guitars? https://youtu.be/Kwpfi39DCDw?si=DnU1KnYHk6kEwU1L

Paul

This is excellent Ben. Brilliant. Your a genius Gump! Thank you. Just give us enough time to learn, and actually internalize these lesson before moving on too quickly. I want to commit to these lessons cause I know it will improve my playing. 🎸

Michael Kintzer

Good stuff! Managed it at 35 bpm (wanted to make sure I had at least one successful run at it). At that speed it's over a 10 minute workout, so I got that going for me at least. Thanks!

Gaclav

Will try it right now! Regarding next Daily Shredhs, maybe some "unorthodox" techniques like two-hand tapping, hybrid, slapping&spanking?

Shahar Bar

EXHAUSTING!

Joel Alain

Great video. Hand synchronization is definitely a weak point (among many) for me…I’d love to see some string switching/skipping stuff on Our Daily Shred. I can play a few of your single string alternate picking exercises at 180-190bpm (sixteenth notes) but as soon as I start trying to play 2 note per string pentatonic runs like our most holy Father in shred, Eric Johnson, I top out at 140-150bpm.

papa barwis

great exercise Ben. I was hoping you could maybe do a video on a subject Troy Grady touched upon (I know you're a fan of his) which is 'string hopping' as he calls it, or inefficient picking motion. I've been struggling with breaking certain speed barriers (around 120bpm 16th notes) as my picking technique just goes all over the place. Maybe some exercies to combat that?

Brad Spalding

Would love to see an Eric Gales style “up the stairs, down the stairs” pentatonic workout.

Ty

Great video, love those drums too :) I always like learning about soloing over chord changes Marty Friedman style

Pavel Kvapil

Great workout! Can´t wait for next one :)

Matt Nelson

weird how i can noodle for hours but when i do this exercise my hand starts hurting near the end of the course. not a bad thing but i am not conditioned well enough for these repetitive movements so it gives me something to work on!

Paul

This is really challenging. I can definitely see where I need to work on fingering the fretboard, and building strength in my left hand. What you're doing on screen and which fingers you're using and I definitely will see improvement once I get this down, this is great! Thank you, Ben!

Adam Tremblett

Love the inclusion of the Guitar Pro file! With GP8 I was able to sync up the backing track and easily adjust the tempo. This is a killer workout! Thanks Ben!

Steven Michael

So cool on the backing tracks how you used different sounds for legato vs picked.

Jamie Gordon

Loving the name. Also great set of exercises, was an awesome way to warm up today!

SEHK

I love this idea! Gotta say though, was a bit sad that there was no celebratory "YAAAAAAAAAAAY" at the end of the midi ;(

Harry Doyle

I love this idea Uncle Ben, "Give us this day our daily Shred" has a great ring to it, more better than "Just a Bit outside"

Nick Castelluccio

i don't recommend making "light" of the Word of God... choose a different series title.

Paul Baglio

Great workout... I'm instantly feeling the benefits and will be using this daily 👍🏻

Wes Chandler

thanks, Nick....this is why we can't have nice things. take your sermon elsewhere, dude. this is NOT the forum for it. go rage someplace else besides a PAID patreon account.

Matt Nelson

i never realized how hard going backwards was.

eriklessons

I really appreciate all of your guitar workouts. It's difficult to find play along workouts online.

J Sayre

so much harder than it looks. are you using active pups?

JadusVonMetal

Damn this is a burner! The pulloffs are especially difficult. Love these Uncle B

Chris

Why can I only see the latest post and not a long list off all the posts?
